MARTIAN KIDS MARATHON - MARTIAN INVASION OF RACES - EXTENSION
The Martian Kids' Marathon is Saturday, April 15th at Ford Park in Dearborn and is presented by Blue Care Network of Michigan. The goal of the Martian Kids’ Marathon is to give kids an incentive to get moving. This is done by rewarding them for logging miles and giving them an amazing race day experience. Over 5,000 kids will be training and preparing for the 2023 event! Last year, the Wildwood Team was one of the largest groups participating with 45 members. This year let’s see if we can have even more kids participate this year.
Team Wildwood Wolf is open to all kids in Young 5s - 12th grade. Kids will have about 10 weeks from now to log 25 miles and then will complete their last 1.2 miles (25 + 1.2 = 26.2 miles, an entire marathon) with thousands of other kids who have been training. Training can be done by students at recess by running/walking the perimeter of the playground for 0.2 mile credit per loop or after school with family and friends.
Kids do not have to attend Wildwood to be part of the Wildwood Wolf team. So, if there are siblings, cousins, or friends that are interested they can be signed also. Registration includes a t-shirt, log book, marathon finisher’s medal, and other cool prizes.
Again this year there is the Mission for Miles Challenge! Adults and family members may register online for the 5K, 10K, Half, Full, and Milky Way 26K Marathon and get a discount by naming Wildwood as their sponsor group. If adult family members want to participate in one of these races they will still have time to accompany the Wolf Team in the Kids’ Marathon or may cheer their student on.
Registration Directions (Young 5s-12th grade) register:
https://runningfitevents.redpodium.com/2023-martian-invasion-of-races
They will need to select “I am here to register as a group participant”
Team Name: Wildwood Wolves - Green Wave 12:40 start time (it will be the last on the drop down menu)
Password: WWCSD23 (it must be typed with caps)
IMPORTANT: The cost is $23 through March 24th. After that the rate increases.
Once your student registers I will send home the logbook so that you can begin tracking miles.
Again for 2023 - Adults and chaperones are welcome to register for the Kids' Marathon! Adult registration will not include the Blue Care Network Swag bag, but will include a shirt and finisher medal! Any registration received for the Kids' Marathon for participants 16 years of age and older will be considered an adult registration. Join your little Martian on their journey to 26.2!

FRIENDLY REMINDERS/INFORMATIONAL
- Pick Up: A reminder that unless there is a doctor's appointment that you have alerted the office and teach about or a family emergency, students should not be signed out between 3:30 and 4:00. This is still instructional time that students are responsible for attending to.
- The Bus Loop (driveway to the north of the school parking lot is NOT a drop off area. Please do not pull into that area during drop off or pick up times. That loop is reserved for buses only.
- Recess: Classes go outside whenever the real feel temp is 20 degrees or warmer. Students should be properly clothed for the weather with hats, gloves, boots, and snow pants.
