Westwood Families,
Go Panthers! Panther Pride is strong at Westwood. Students have been excited about the theme days to start the week. Each homeroom and Panther Time class have been decorating their doors for this spirit week. We will end the week with dress as a tourist day on Thursday and wear your Panther colors or gear on Friday.
Spring Lake Park High School invites younger members of panther community to attend and support our teams, with the following understanding:
- Students may attend high school athletic events, if they are accompanied by a supervising adult.
- All school rules and behavior expectations extend to high school athletic events. For example, running around, throwing objects, using profanity, or physical contact with others is not permitted. Students who violate school rules or behavior expectations will be escorted out of the event without a refund.
- Backpacks, skateboards, balls, etc. may not be brought into high school athletic events.
- For this Friday’s game, entrance gates open 6:15 p.m. and the cost of admission is $5.
Remember to watch for a message from your child’s teacher(s) tomorrow with links to more information about our curriculum and your child’s school day. Then, October is right around the corner and that will bring fall conferences. Please hold these dates for Westwood fall conferences and watch for more information next week on how to sign up:
- Tuesday, October 18, 4-7:30 p.m., in person
- Wednesday, October 19, 8-11 a.m., in person and 12-3 p.m. via WebEx
- Thursday, October 27 – 4:30-7:30 p.m. via WebEx

Strengthened Student Supports
As a new year gets underway, a full continuum of supports is available in our schools to support students’ academic, social, emotional and behavior development and needs.
After two years of disrupted, pandemic learning, addressing academic gaps and supporting students’ development and well-being are top of mind. The district has taken a unique path. To create a more integrated approach, the team has brought curriculum and instruction together with special education and student services. This strengthened continuum of supports recognizes that each child has a unique combination of needs and strengths.
For the academic as well as the social, emotional and behavioral, there is a core set of instructional practices that all students experience. For students who show a need, there are also targeted services as well as individual supports.
