Taking Precautions with the Outbreak of the Coronavirus
Hello District 103 families,
The national news has been covering the outbreak of the coronavirus that started in Wuhan, China, and its implications for travelers to China, as well as the impact it may have on the United States. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is monitoring the situation, and as of this writing, five cases have been identified in the United States. Because the virus is not spreading in the United States at this time, the CDC does not recommend any additional precautions for the general public to take. The CDC always recommends the following to stay healthy:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
If you or a loved one has traveled to Wuhan in the past 14 days and are feeling ill, the CDC recommends contacting your doctor.
Additional information regarding the coronavirus can be found on the CDC website.
The safety of our students is our utmost priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update our community should circumstances regarding the coronavirus change.
Thank you for your partnership as we raise our Leaders in Learning!
