Meet Mrs. Cedillo
Hello students, welcome to 5th grade! A little about myself is that I was born in Houston, TX. I have lived in Germany and Arkansas. I attended the University of Houston and I received my Bachelors degree in 1997. This will be my 21st year in education, 15 of those being in 5th grade. I have been married for 27 years and have three wonderful adult children.
I enjoy: Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, Jason's Deli, and Chipotle
Respect Means Week
Last week, Humble El enjoyed themed days to celebrate RESPECT MEANS week. We had fun while remembering how important it is to respect ourselves, our peers and the adults around us. The following students received the "Pineapple Award" for being extra respectful around campus: Uriel, Denis, Stasy , Mariana , Jacky, Aliyah, Mayte, Jakob , Nathan , Hailey and Seth.

Science Corner
In science, we have been very busy studying energy. Your child should now be an expert on mechanical, thermal, electrical, light and sound energy, Feel free to ask about conductors and insulators for each type and how they travel.
We will be moving on to designing experiments that show the effect that friction has on force.
Meet Mrs. Hernandez
Hello! I am so excited to be your reading/writing/social studies teacher this school year. Just a little about myself. I was born in Nayarit, Mexico. I grew up in Georgia and I attended Columbus State University where I graduated with a Bachelors in 2011. I have been married to my husband for 10 wonderful years and we have two daughters, a son, and Junior, our Chihuahua.

Reading
Drama/Myths: Our drama/myths unit was a complete success. Students preformed a play in SPANISH for 4th and 3rd grade students.
Expository Texts: We have started analyzing expository texts. We are paying close attention to text features and how they enhance the text, text structures, and author's purpose. With this unit we are also practicing identifying central idea, supporting details, and summary.
