And the Winner is....
Brewer Community School 3rd Grade Takes Top Honors
Mrs. P will Skype with 3rd Graders to Share the News!
The winning story, Classroom Pets, is a collaborative class project from Ms. MacInnes’s 3rd grade class at Brewer Community School in Brewer, Maine. It won the top honor in the 7th annual Mrs. P Be-a-Famous Writer national contest. Entries from K-4 classrooms were received from 28 states this year. The theme of the contest this year was Pets.
The Grand Prize Chosen by a Panel of Celebrity Judges
Judges Peter H. Reynolds, children’s book author, illustrator, bookshop owner and founder of FableVision; John Schumacher, Scholastic’s Ambassador for School Libraries; and Mrs. P (T.V. Actress Kathy Kinney), selected the story because it was a great story right from the beginning. It was filled with a terrific vocabulary and a surprise ending. It was very clever, funny with nice twists and turns. They also loved that it was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book. They could just hear Mrs. P reading it aloud.
Sponsors Fill Classrooom with Books
As part of the prize, the story will be professionally illustrated by Robin Robinson and read by Mrs. P on her YouTube Channel, called Mrs. P Storytime. It will premiere in early March so everyone can enjoy it.
The winning classroom will be filled with actual books, audio book and digital books along with some fun writing software thanks to the sponsors of the contest: Mackin Educational Resources, Tales2GO, and FableVision.
