Yearbook Photos
It's yearbook time! We have been working hard to make this year’s A. I. Root Middle School yearbook a great one! Each page is filled with friends, photos, and fun memories! Order your child’s copy today by clicking on this link and using our school’s Yearbook ID Code: 12301221. Yearbooks this year will be $20 each. The deadline to order is Friday, March 12th.
We are currently holding a yearbook cover contest to see which designs we will have on our cover. Please encourage your students to participate! Designs are due on January 19th. They can be emailed to me at labusb@medinabees.org or physically handed in on January 19th in room E16.
Return to School Reminders
Return to School Procedures
Arrival / Dismissal
- Procedures have not changed.
- Arrival reminder: No students will be permitted to enter the building until 7:25 a.m. regardless of weather conditions, so please plan and dress accordingly.
- 1st period begins at 7:40 a.m.
- Dismissal procedures begin at 2:10 p.m.
- Dismissal has not changed please refer to Return to School Procedures link above.
Schedules
- Students should check Progress Book, prior to January 19th, to verify their schedule and 1st period class and location.
- Paper copies of schedules will be distributed during 1st period and will contain student's locker assignment and combination.
Lockers
- Students will be issued lockers on January 19th.
- 6th grade teachers will be taking extra time on the 19th to assist students in dealing with combination locks. All locks are provided by the district. Personal locks are not permitted.
- This is not a return to normal, just an opportunity to store coats and winter items. Students should not be decorating or installing shelves or disco balls.
- Students may use lockers at the following times:
- Prior to 1st Period
- Before and / or After Lunch
- End of the Day
Lunch
Seat Assignments
Cafeteria - Students will be permitted to choose new seats for the second semester. Students will be allowed to select a new seats on the 19th, and must lock in their seat choice on the 20th. These seats will be permanent for the remainder of the school year for the purpose of contact tracing.
Quarantined Students
Visitors
- The building is still closed to outside visitors.
- All meetings will be held virtually.
- Families will not be able to drop off food for students. Lunch is free and available for all students.
Recess
- Students will be permitted to go to lockers before lunch/recess in order to pick up coats for outdoor recess.
- We will have outdoor recess, weather permitting, anytime the temperature is above 20 degrees.
- Please dress appropriately !!!

Welcome New Member to the Root Staff
Washington D.C. - 8th Grade Trip
May 5-7, 2021
The 8th grade student's DC trip has been rescheduled for May 5-7, 2021. All information for the trip can be accessed through the student's Google Classroom. Students should log on to Google Classroom and use the class code lakzkvp to join. This platform will be used to make announcements, as well as stay in communication with those participating in the trip.
All money for the trip is due by March 5, 2021. Please make your payment as soon as possible to reserve your students spot. We will be using payforit.net for payment as payment cannot be dropped off this year. We will be using teacher/staff chaperones and travel agent representatives for the trip.
