WOODGROVE HIGH SCHOOL

October 1, 2021

From the Principal's Desk...

Greetings, Wolverines.

With all the excitement of starting school and having everyone back on campus, September seemed to go by quickly! Many thanks to everyone who assisted with making the 2021-2022 beginning such a positive experience for our students. We currently have 1595 students attending Woodgrove High School. Both our ninth and tenth grades are successfully transitioning into high school, and they quickly have become an integral part of our Wolverine culture.

Our Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 9, from 7 PM to 10 PM. For the first time, we are hosting the event outdoors in our stadium. Thank you to our SCA, Class Officers, Ms. Valasek, Ms. Wall, and our PTSO for their tireless efforts to put this special event together for our students. On Wednesday, October 13, LCPS will administer the PSAT to grades 9, 10, and 11. The county has determined that 12th-grade students will have an asynchronous day of school on October 13. 12th graders will access their school assignments through Schoology.

LCPS Transportation continues to make modifications to bus routes. Please continue to check ParentVue for updates which could include changes to stop locations, bus number, or times. Should you have any questions regarding LCPS Transportation, you may contact them at 571-252-1700 or through this link: LCPS Transportation - Questions / Concerns

Please continue to stay involved in the school life of your son/daughter. Also, please note that the ParentVUE portal is available, and you can stay up to date on student assignments and grades. If you have any questions regarding ParentVUE, please contact the school and/or specific teacher. In addition, ParentVUE will continue to serve as our source for interims and report cards this year. If you would like a hard copy of your son’s or daughter’s interim and/or report card, please contact our Counseling Office, and they will be sure to send a copy to you.

On Monday, November 1, we will host our virtual student-parent-teacher conferences from 9 AM to 11 AM. These are brief five-minute conferences that enable students, parents, and teachers to review the first quarter and then make plans for the second quarter and the remainder of the year. These conferences also provide teachers with the opportunity to answer any questions parents and students may have. Sign-ups for the conferences will be available on the school website beginning Monday, October 25.

Once again, overall, the year is off to a superb start! We offer much gratitude to the PTSO, the WMAA, and the WWABC for their efforts to support the school. These groups have planned many exciting activities for this year, and I do encourage you to participate. Whether you are a father, mother, or guardian of a student at Woodgrove, I urge all of you to be involved with the school in some capacity.

Best wishes to everyone, and thank you for your continued support.

William S. Shipp, Ed.D.
