Soaring into MDE

What a week 1!

Week 1 of Distance Learning

WOW! What a week! At the beginning of the week, I know there were some struggles. However, from the extreme decline of phone calls into the office, it seems that we all got into the rhythm of Distance Learning.

I want to thank each and every one of our TEACHERS, STUDENTS, STAFF, and PARENTS for providing some grace and flexibility during this transition back into distance learning. I am blown away by the support of this community.

With all this access to teachers during distance learning, I would like to ask that you respect their "off" hours too. Teachers do have office hours at the end of each day to address any questions about class/homework. Per their MOU, they have 24-hours to return your email, so please know that they may not be able to answer your student's HW question or provide more details until the next day. All that being said, teachers still may choose to reply or get in touch with you outside of their "work-day" which is from 8:00 am-3:00 pm.

Back to School Night(s)

To help with facilitating Back to School Night(s) this year, we will be spreading them out across next week. Please refer to your teacher for guidance and zoom/meet links.

All virtual meetings will be from 5pm-6pm

The Schedule is as Follows:

Tk/K & 1st: Tuesday

2nd & 3rd: Wednesday

4th & 5th: Thursday

We understand that some families may have children in grades in which these meetings may overlap. If this is the case, please reach out to your teacher and discuss an alternate plan.

Materials Pick-Up/Drop-off

This is still a process that may change and evolve over time. Currently our drop-off/pic-up times each day assigned are from 8 am-3:30 pm. The goal is for students to be able to drop off completed work and get the next week(s) materials. Some grade levels may do this weekly while others will do this on an as needed basis. Reminder that masks MUST be worn and if you see friends, please do not stand around and talk. Campus supervisors may ask you to move along if you are engaged in a casual conversation.

Assigned Days

TK & K: Monday

1st Grade: Friday

2nd Grade: Thursday

3rd Grade: Friday

4th Grade: Friday

5th Grade: Friday

During this time, please remember that teachers are still in session with other students, recording videos for future lessons, or not in their classroom. Please do not knock just to say, "hello" or to see if they are there.

Virtual Coffee Talk w/Katie

I will be starting a virtual Coffee with the Principal via zoom, once a month. It is a time for you to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn a little about your new principal. This month's Virtual Coffee Talk will be Friday, 8/28 at 9:30 am. Here is the Zoom information:
