Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
April 12, 2018
"April showers bring May flowers." One of life's most important lessons can be learned from this simple phrase..the value and importance of having patience. Even the unpleasant rains that April often brings can be seen as the promise of flowers in May. Many of life's greatest things come only to those who wait. If we wait patiently and rely on our faith in God, we can endure whatever clouds come our way. As we plant our seeds in spring to grow our future gardens, let's remember to plant them with faith, hope, and love.
Here are some happenings at OLGC:
- The PIE Clothing Drive will begin this weekend. They are still in need of several volunteers who are willing and able to help out. We know that it is a busy time of year, however, if you could spare an hour it would be most appreciated.
- As a part of our Spring Open House, on Thursday, May 10th we will hold an Art Show and Band Concert. Mrs. Mitchell is in need of volunteers for the Art Show. If you have any time that you could assist, please email Mrs. Mitchell directly.
Please be aware of a new provision related specifically to 529 plan accounts, beginning with the 2018 tax year. Account owners can use assets to pay for qualified K-12 tuition expenses up to $10,000 per year, per student.
Our Race for Education will take place on Friday, May 11, 2018. A separate school message will be sent out today with very important information regarding the race and students will be coming home today with a label sheet to be used. All funds raised will be used for security upgrades and enhancements.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley

School Safety & Security
The safety of our students is our top priority. No visitor or volunteer may go to any area of the school without first signing in at the office and receiving a visitor’s badge. Visitors or volunteers are not permitted to go to a classroom to visit, confer with a teacher without an appointment, or visit any child in class, at lunch, or in the schoolyard.
