Cold weather is here! Wearing the appropriate winter outerwear is important. Our goal is to have students go outside for recess whenever possible. (Please note if it is icy on the playground, we will not go outside.)
- Students should come to school with a winter jacket, gloves, scarves, hat, etc.
- Please discuss with your child the need to wear jackets at recess. Winter outerwear should not be removed when it is cold.
- Please label all the winter gear. We have lots of black snow pants, so a label would really help!
Girls on the Run
Hanawalt had their first Girls on the Run team this year. The program is for girls 3rd - 5th grades. Girls on the Run has three core values to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths while building a sense of connection in a team setting. We had 24 girls participate this year. A big thank you to the girls and Coach Jill Tyler and Coach Kelli Petersen.
Another Big Thank You
For November Teacher Appreciation, Kim Dunn Helm from Domestic Bones (Hanawalt parent) delivered a large snack for the staff. It was absolutely delicious! Thank you to Kim and the PTA.

We Are Grateful for You!
There are so many great people in the Hanawalt Community who make our school a special place to be! This week we wanted to shout out two in particular: THANK YOU to parent Patrick Rupe for planning another successful skate night for our students this year and helping to find the funding to make it free! THANK YOU to parent Kimberly Dunn Helm, who owns Domestic Bones, a local small business specializing in savory hand pies and aprons for donating lunch for our teachers and staff this week!
