Kindergarten Registration
The online registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now available online! Please click here to complete the on-line registration. Make sure to register for the 2019-2020 school year.
Parents must still visit the school to complete the registration. If registering a Kindergarten student for the 2019-2020 school year, you can do so online but you will not be able to finalize the paperwork at the school until the week of March 11th.
Registration for students entering Kindergarten in Fall 2019 starts on Monday, March 11th and runs through Friday, March 15th from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Lisbon Elementary.
There will be one evening registration available on Thursday, March 14th from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Kindergarten is mandatory in Maryland, so if your child turns 5 by September 1, 2019, you must register your child for the 2019-20 school year. Parents or guardians are to register students at the school serving the address where the child’s parent or guardian resides. Information on neighborhood schools can be found through School Locator on the school system web site or by calling the Public Information Office at 410-313-6682.
The following documents are needed for registration:
- Child’s evidence of birth
- An authorized record of immunizations
- Proof of residency in the form of a signed lease or deed and a current utility bill
- Photo ID of parent/guardian
- Proof of custody (if applicable)
Please visit https://www.hcpss.org/enroll/kindergarten/ to view important information about registering your student. You can also find a complete list of documents required for registration. If you have any questions about Kindergarten Registration, please call Lisbon Elementary at 410-313-5506.
If you have a child currently attending an HCPSS PreK program, there is no need to re-register your student for Kindergarten.

Lisbon "Mane" Literacy Event

A Top Secret Literacy Night that will have everyone-staff, students, and families asking......
WHO…. IS…. THE… MASKED… MYSTERY…. READER?
Wanted: Lisbon’s Top Secret Agents and Super Sleuths
For: Lisbon’s “Mane” Literacy Night
When: Tuesday, March 12, 2019
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Where: Lisbon Elementary School
This year our literacy night will focus on helping our students improve their skills to make inferences and draw conclusions by examining text evidence. Students will also use C.L.U.E.S. to identify the steps of a problem solving process. These skills will enhance students’ ability to peacefully resolve conflict with peers.
Please join us and help our young Super Sleuths use C.L.U.E.S. in their reading and peer relationships.

GIFTED & TALENTED CORNER
Families of Fifth Graders
This Friday, February 22nd, a notification letter, CogAT score report, and a “GT Course Placement Review Form," will be mailed to your home. If your child meets the eligibility scores or was recommended for one or more G/T content class placements, please return the permission slip indicating whether you grant or withhold consent for your child’s participation. Meeting the cutoff score does not necessarily indicate the best placement for your child, as other factors should be considered as well. You, as parents/guardians, may choose to opt-in or opt-out your child from any G/T course. If the Placement Committee did not make a recommendation for a G/T placement for your child, yet you believe your child would be successful in the class, you may complete the “GT Course Placement Review Form” and return it to Mrs. O’Connor at Lisbon no later than March 15th. This form will allow you to place your child in one or more G/T courses that are different than the recommendations of the school-based placement committee. If you do not receive this mailing by the end of next week, please email Mrs. O’Connor at jodi_oconnor@hcpss.org.

Instructional Seminar
Recently, fourth grade students heard about the newest instructional seminar, Young Writer’s Institute.
Instructional Seminars are interest-based groups that meet with a G/T Resource Teacher once weekly during recess. Interested fourth grade students can obtain an application in their team area. Please click link below for a copy of the application.
Students need to complete the application at home, obtain a parental signature, and return it to the envelope in their team area by Friday, March 8th.
This seminar will meet during recess on Wednesdays and requires approximately a 9-week commitment.
If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Jodi O’Connor, G/T Resource Teacher, at Jodi_Oconnor@hcpss.org. Thank you.
Bushy Park Regional Early Childhood Center
Learning Together Program – Prekindergarten
The Bushy Park Regional Early Childhood Center (RECC) preschool and pre-kindergarten programs are making preparations for classes for the 2019-2020 school year. These classes include children with and without disabilities. The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills. Parents of children who will be 3 or 4 by September 1st may contact Katie Hereth at Bushy Park Elementary for an application package beginning February 15, 2019. At this time, there are a few available 4-year-old learning together peer spots for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Howard County Public School System continues to offer a Pre-Kindergarten program for income eligible children who will be four years old by September 1. This program is also at Bushy Park RECC in the afternoon 5 days a week. Please contact Katie Hereth at 410-313-5500 for additional information and an application.
All Learning Together Peer applications must be returned by the last Friday in March 2019. A limited number of openings are available for children without disabilities. Children are selected based upon screening information given on the application form and the “Ages and Stages Questionnaire,” as well as observations of the child’s participation in a playgroup on April 5, 2019 from 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. at Bushy Park RECC. If necessary, a lottery process is conducted.
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Hereth at (410) 313-5500.

The Lisbon Elementary PTA is dedicated to the families of Lisbon. We have financial assistance, scholarships, and opportunities available to enable all our students to be involved in PTA events and programs, regardless of family income or financial circumstances. If your student would like to participate in an event like Snowtubing or an afterschool program being offered like Studio Art and is in need of financial assistance in order to do so, please contact Mrs. Anoff, Ms. Wright or our PTA 1st Vice President, Ellen Bockelman, at meabbock@gmail.com. Families affected by the government shutdown are eligible for assistance. All information is and will remain confidential.
Love for Cooper
Are you looking to support the Trueblood family? With frequent trips to and from the hospital, the family could use our support for things like gas, meals away from home, and specific items for Cooper. Gift cards are ideal (Visa and Amazon are two good general ones.), and these are being collected in the front office. You can drop them off or send them to school in an envelope marked “Cooper Trueblood.” Your thoughts and prayers are great gifts, too!Where to Find Us
Please follow us on Facebook! Visit www.facebook.com/LisbonESPTA or search for “Lisbon Elementary School PTA.” And if you haven’t checked out the Lisbon ES PTA website, please do! At www.lisbonpta.org you’ll find a calendar of events, parent resources, forms, open volunteer positions and more! We would love to have your feedback on programming for the year, too. You’ll find a survey link on the home page.
