Principal Message
As I sat down to type this newsletter, I considered the terms we've used over the past few years for learning outside of school: e-learning, virtual learning, remote learning, etc. Today, I'm going to use the term at-home learning. It's simple and reflects our desire to make things as easy as possible for our families.
As wonderful as technology can be, we do know that it can sometimes be frustrating when technical issues arise. We also know that technology can distract from learning for certain students. Although devices have been made available for those that need them, many of our teachers have provided packets to make things easier.
Students do NOT need to log-in each day for attendance. Students simply need to complete the work and return it to the teacher when they return to school. Finished work will count toward the student's grade and attendance. If your child is unable to understand or complete an assignment, please do not stress. Simply contact your child's teacher. The teacher will respond and provide assistance as needed.
Teachers have made every effort to ensure that the amount of work assigned is both reasonable and purposeful. Some students may finish early while others may spread the work out across the entire week. Again, simply contact your child's teacher if they need any assistance whatsoever.
Before students left for a week of at-home learning, I took time to visit each classroom. Everywhere I looked, students were engaged and working on a variety of tasks. I've included some pictures below.
Additional Items to Know
- Contact your child's teacher for material pick-up if your child was unable to bring home work this Thursday.
- We will have opportunities for pick-up starting on Monday of next week. Please wear a mask when entering the school.
- Special Education teachers will reach out to families regarding services for Special Education students.
- Meals for students enrolled in our school will be available for pick-up on the backside of the school behind the lunchroom daily from 10:30 to noon. Students will receive a lunch and cold breakfast.
- Continue to report to the school if your child tests positive or has a COVID exposure.
- For those that have received calls or letters regarding attendance, please allow our registrar a few days to catch up this next week.
