Merrill Scientists...Testing our Excellence!
On Thursday our 6th and 7th grade students showcased their innovative ideas and hard work at the Merrill Science Fair. As always we loved welcoming Merrill families and the larger community in to see the inquiring, learning, and reflecting that our students have been engaged in. A huge thank you to the science teachers, Merrill families, the PTA, and all of the volunteers that made the science fair a tremendous success. Twenty of our 6th graders and sixteen of our 7th graders will be taking their projects to the City Science Fair in February. Congratulations to all of the Merrill scientists!

PTA Update
T-Shirts:
A huge thank you to the PTA for gifting each of our students and staff members with a brand new, Merrill t-shirt. The school spirit went up a notch this week as students poured into our hallways and classrooms in their new Merrill apparel.
A few shout outs...
- Thank you to Rose Green, our PTA president, for taking an idea and turning it into a reality, which is no small task in a school of nearly 800 students.
- Thank you to Kelsey Byus at Twin Forks Trading Co. This wouldn't have been possible without his partnership and vision.
- Thank you to Megan Tempero for leading the charge on apparel sales. She has organized the apparel, shown up at every school event to sell the apparel, and still has a smile on her face!
- Thank you to Theresa Chivers for keeping our PTA budget in order and serving as the treasurer. She's organized, brilliant, and stops in regularly to keep the books up-to-date.
Book Fair:
Thank you to Karina Casini and a handful of other volunteers for setting up and managing the book fair this week. There was a nice balance of both fiction and nonfiction books to choose from. We were thrilled to see big smiles on students' faces as they walked away with a new book to read. If you missed out on the book fair, please check with Mrs. Kent as many of the titles are available in the Merrill library.
Merrill Matters:
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 PM as the Merrill Matters team presents "What You Don't See". We've partnered with local law enforcement to provide an educational opportunity to help schools and families become educated about the dangers of drugs. Thank you to Jaimee Nicolino for organizing this experience that we hope will bring about awareness to our Merrill families and our community. Click here to learn more.
