Message from Jeanne Krapfl

Dear Families,

Welcome back to the 23-24 school year and thank you for helping make it such a wonderful start! We are getting ready to kick off the beginning of the year assessments. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack for the letter I sent home for grades K-2 and another letter for 3-5, as there are differences for each. The State has 3 sessions of testing for all students, which we call “PM1,” “PM2,” and “PM3.” The PM stands for Progress Monitoring. We are looking for each student to grow and score more points each session of testing throughout the year. You can see your child’s score in your parent portal as we begin PM1 this week. A level 3 or higher means your child is proficient in that subject area but remember that this would be expected by the time they get to PM3; PM1 and PM2 are all about growing and learning. I hope this gives you a quick overview of what is happening in the testing world! Now, for attendance. We need every student to come to school unless they are sick of course. If they miss school, they miss learning and it will impact their assessment scores. Early pick ups and late arrivals are equally taking away from their growth so please be mindful that this should be on rare occasions to meet doctor’s appointments or for emergencies. We appreciate the partnerships between the school and home and know that when we work together great things happen for students, for our community and for our future!

Staff in the Spotlight

Our Registrar/Data Entry, Eileen Freeman is our highlighted staff of the month! With a new shift in electronic enrollments and use of Mystudent for all digital communications, Ms. Freeman has stepped right up and learned the new systems to help others. She is always calm, helpful, and does everything with a smile. The systems can be tricky to navigate, but with Ms. Freeman on hand, we can truly rest easy that there is a solution to the many hiccups we have all experienced at one time or another with technology! She also enjoys greeting students each morning as well as spending lunch duty with her group of students. Thank you for all you do for our parents, staff, and mostly the students!
