A tsunami is a wave of water that can be tens of feet high. It is caused when a plate shifts up, which causes the water to move up, creating a giant wave. The highest tsunami wave recorded 1,720 feet tall! (Geology.com) Tsunamis can cause billions of dollars worth of damage. They don't only come in one wave, they come in multiple! To prepare for a tsunami you should make an evacuation plan and practice it with your family. The place you escape to should take 15 minutes or under on foot to escape to. You should get to high ground so you don't drown or be swept away.
