Principal's Message

Dear Barbieri Families

Students are coming Back to School! We are thrilled to welcome our hawks back! During the next few weeks we will be experiencing what we will call THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF SCHOOL. We will have a FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL on Feb. 24th, welcoming our S cohort students. Another FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL on Mar. 3rd when will welcome back cohort B. Then again on Mar. 8th we will welcome cohort A. WE WANT TO REMIND YOU THAT THE SCHEDULED RETURN DATES ARE ONLY FOR STUDENTS/FAMILIES THAT RESPONDED TO RETURN IN-PERSON LEARNING IN THE SURVEY. If you did not choose to return in-person, but would like to change your mind now, please call the main office and we will be happy to add you to the return to school wait list for the March 19th check-in point

Your three administrators are committed to prioritizing the social emotional well being of our students. We want to be sure that students feel welcomed, comfortable and safe. We will TAKE TIME TO TREAT 2/24, 3/3 and 3/8 AS FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL. We understand these first days will be critical to fostering relationships and establishing routines and we will support our teachers and students in doing so. Our SEL (Social Emotional Learning) team (Liannys, Sarah, Tracy or Kelly) have been hard at work in creating lessons they can co-teach with our teachers on mask wearing, hand washing, in-person, socially distant ice breakers, videos and a special bulletin board that will display all staff members' pictures with a mask on and mask off. All of these efforts will support a smooth transition to school.

Everything will take more time. We will all practice flexibility, patience and support.

Con mucho aprecio,

Maria
