Important Updates for NRSD Families from the Nursing Team
If your child is sick, please do not send them to school. Call the school to report the illness and our school nurse will follow up with you with further instructions. The following symptoms require follow up:
Fever (100 F or higher) or chills
Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Headache, when in combination with other symptoms
Muscle aches or body aches (not due to other known cause such as exercise)
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies), when in combination with other symptoms
If your child is referred to COVID-19 testing by their Primary Care Provider, please ensure they undergo PCR testing only. We cannot accept the rapid/antigen test results.
If your child is tested for COVID-19, you must let our school nurse know. Children may not physically return to school with a pending test. You must review your child’s case with our school nurse before they can be cleared to return to school.
If your child is a close contact to someone who is positive for COVID-19, they must quarantine for 14 days. It is recommended that they get tested but a negative test result will not change the 14-day quarantine period.
Students who attend large gatherings may be asked to quarantine.
You must let our school nurse know if your child has traveled outside of Massachusetts. We must comply with the state’s Travel Order that pertains to both high risk states and international travel.
If you travel to a high risk state or abroad, upon return to MA, you will have to quarantine for 14 days OR produce a negative PCR COVID-19 test result (not a rapid/antigen test).
You can test up to 72 hours prior to arriving in or after arrival to MA.
For more information on traveling during the holiday season please visit the MA travel guide. Travel Order
