"Spread the Love" Peanut Butter Drive
WVWC's "Spread the Love" Peanut Butter Drive resulted in 793 jars of peanut butter (+ some jelly companions + a few other non-perishable items) donated by campus groups, community members & organizations, and WVWC families! This drive was part of WVWC's initiative for the Governor's Day to serve. Donations will be given locally to the Upshur Cooperative Parish House and the Salvation Army. More information at www.daytoserve.org.
Why does your donation matter? Because 1 in 5 children in Upshur County live with food insecurity. Because the peanut butter we collected will last about two months. Because the Parish House currently serves approximately 80 families each week.
Your contributions of peanut butter average over $2350 in total value. THANK YOU to ALL who participated!

WE LEAD News & Opportunities
- Gearing Up! The WE LEAD Social Justice League issue team is partnering with Church World Service and the Buckhannon community to host a CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 6th. Registration for the walk will begin at 1:30 pm in Jawbone Park and the walk will begin at 2 pm. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised stay right here in Buckhannon for the Parish House and Salvation Army; the remaining 75% goes directly towards providing food and water as well as resources that empower people who are living in poverty to sustainably meet their own needs and thus rise out of poverty.
If you want to donate online, you can go to www.crophungerwalk.org/buckhannonwv and click “Donate” at the bottom of the page. You can then choose to either donate to the walk or to a specific team. If you are not comfortable donating online, then you bring cash or check donations to Linda Hicks in the Center for Community Engagement and Leadership Development Office (2nd floor of the Benedum Campus Center behind the bookstore). Also, if you wish to participate in the walk you can sign up as an individual walker or join a team. Simply go to the address listed above and click “Sign Up” and follow the onscreen instructions. Questions? E-mail JT Noland.
