Distance Learning Announcements and Updates, 11/13/20

A Message from Principal Ghereben

Greetings Proctor Community,

Thank you for engaging in another week of Distance Learning. We hope students and families were able to have a mid-week rest on Wednesday as we had the day off in remembrance of Veteran's Day.

Though we were not able to hold a Veteran's Day Assembly this year, we definitely wanted to make sure to acknowledge those who have served from our community, and families. Please view our tribute of thanks below. Special thanks to Jacob Cook, who once again shared his talents playing taps for our tribute video.

Please make sure to take the time to read the CVUSD Roadmap to Reopening and Safety Plan. As Superintendent Ahmadi said during Thursday board meeting on 11/12, This is a very comprehensive plan that will answer many of your questions with regards to school sites safely reopening.

At the Special Board Meeting held on November 12th, the Castro Valley Board of Education unanimously approved the phased reopening plan with a start date of February 1, 2021 (graphic below). The phased reopening is predicated on health orders allowing for in person instruction. Currently, each school is designing a site specific reopening plan that will provide protocols and procedures in each of these areas:

    • Facilities & Operations

    • Health and Safety

    • Classroom Instruction

    • Parents and the Community

Each site plan will be posted on their school website in the coming weeks. In December, and January, I will share this plan in detail with our school community and stakeholder groups as we prepare to open in February. We will schedule trainings for families and students prior to reopening to ensure everyone is equipped with the most accurate and latest information related to safety protocols, procedures and requirements. You will also have a chance to see pictures and videos of classrooms set up for Hybrid Instruction, and will be given your cohort assignment so that you can plan accordingly.

I promise to continue to communicate details to our school community throughout the planning process.

Sincerely,

Heather Ghereben
