Workshop Description
A career path could be a straight line or a challenging road to success. In this workshop, participants will discover how to identify the skills and training needed to start a new career or obtain training for a promotion in their current career. Discovery of a new career can be exciting and when given the opportunity to assess goals and experiences, participants may realize this path is a few small steps to success.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Assess their skills, interests and values
- Make informed career choices based on their self-assessment
- Explore relevant career options and build skills pertinent to those of greatest interest
- Make informed decisions about the pursuit of graduate and professional school
Workshop Activities:
- Speed Networking (Current career overview) - Participants get to know about each other and current careers
- Fish Bowl (Pick a Career) - Participants will write down ideal career and select pros and cons
- Solutions (Next Steps) - Participants will review a step-by-step overview of training available based on a sample career from a variety of colleges, training centers and online resources
