MAP GOAL WINNERS
As we prepared for MAP testing tomorrow, we held a drawing to recognize some students who met their MAP goals that were set when we administered the test at the beginning of the year. Those that were honored received a variety of prizes including gift cards from Crumbl, Big Air, Chik-fil-A, and even our very own Wildcat Store. We will offer similar incentives for this round of MAP testing so please encourage your child to take their time and do their very best on this important test. We also reminded students that their performance on MAP testing influences their placement in CAT classes. Please be sure your child comes to school with their chromebook fully charged, a good night's sleep, and a positive attitude for success!
NEW CHROMEBOOKS
When we return from the Winter Vacation, we will begin the process of distributing new chromebooks to students. We will collect their current chromebooks and chargers and provide them with a new device and charger. Student who do not return their chromebook along with the charger will not receive the new technology until they do so. Students that have outstanding fees due will not get a new device until all fees are paid in full. The technology agreements signed at the beginning of the year will still be in effect. Please contact our Media Specialist, Jana Wood at janawood@lcsd56g.com if you have questions.
PROJECT BASED LEARNING
During their Project Based Learning class, 7th graders Kyleigh Anderson and Lily Walsh submitted a proposal on how to plant more trees on the CMS campus. In the class, students identify a social issue and make proposals on how to make a positive change. Under the direction of science teacher, Mrs. Thomas, they completed the project and received funding from the Carolina Wren Garden Club to purchase the trees. They planted two trees yesterday in honor of South Carolina's Arbor Day.
STOCK MARKET WINNER!
CMS has some exciting news! 7th grader, Taylor Patterson, finished 3rd out of 196 middle schoolers playing the South Carolina Stock Market Game. This is quite an accomplishment and we all wish we would have invested some real money in the companies that made most profit for her! All the students start out with $100,000 in this state-wide activity and play a very realistic stock market simulation. Taylor turned her initial investment into $125,951.36 in about two months...very impressive!!! Perhaps she will have a lucrative career in the stock market!
STUDENTS of the MONTH
On Wednesday, we had the opportunity to honor our Students of the Month. Each teacher identified one of their students to be recognized for an outstanding attribute that the child exhibited during the month. We held a brief ceremony in the Multi Purpose Room where we awarded them with certificates and celebrated with cupcakes and ice cream. Please join us in congratulating our outstanding Students of the Month.
