A Message on Report Cards from the 3 Middle Schools Principals
Dear Families,
We are writing to inform you regarding what you can expect with this year’s final report card. As you already know, all middle school students will be receiving P (Participation) or NP (No Participation) for Trimester 3.
We are acutely aware of the impact COVID-19 has had on our families. This, coupled with the transition to remote learning that occurred prior to the end of Trimester 2, prevents us from accurately and fairly determining final grades for all of our middle school students. For this reason we will not be calculating final grades for the 2019-2020 academic year. This decision will not impact student placement in courses for future years.
For state reporting purposes, we will be assigning a P in the “Final Grade” column for all students on their report cards. When reviewing your student’s report card, we recommend focusing on trimester grades rather than the final grade. Please share with your students that their efforts have been noticed by their teachers. During our time in remote learning, students who participated continued to build and refine skills, add to their knowledge base, and develop time management strategies that will prove to be invaluable in their future both in and out of school.
Sincerely,
Kerry Wood - Fuller MS
Michelle Melick - Cameron MS
Patrick Johnson - Walsh MS
Remote Learning
Each week I share a document with families that has every teacher's Google Classroom link, email address, and Office Hours for the week. Your child should be going to their teachers' Google Classrooms to see their assignments and to turn in their work. The District Calendar - found on Fuller's and the District's web pages - is for parents/guardians to see the assignments for each discipline for the week. Students should not be using the District Calendar to turn in work. Below I have included links to the teachers' information document and videos with instructions on how to access Google Classroom.
If a student does not turn in work or does not communicate with their teachers, the teachers will be reaching out to them through email or by phone to check-in. If a teacher, a student support team member, or a member of the administration reaches out to you or your child, it is because we are concerned and want to make sure that we are supporting you and your child in accessing the curriculum or any resources you may need.
Please remember that all children should be accessing Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Physical Education daily; students should also be completing work for their Trimester 3 Electives - Tech Ed, Art, Drama, Music/Chorus, Band, and/or Orchestra; and children enrolled in World Language, Guided Academic, and ESL should also be completing daily work for these classes.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me, our Assistant Principals, the Student Support Team, or your child's Teachers. We are all here to help and support you and your child.

Thank you to Fuller's PTO for commissioning a banner that will be hung up outside of Fuller to celebrate and recognize our 8th grade students. I would also like to thank our PTO for leading the coordinated effort to make sure banners would also be made for Cameron and Walsh Middle Schools. By making sure all three middle schools work together, we are ensuring there is equity for all of our children. I appreciate that our PTO and families respect and honor this mission - we are stronger when we work together as a community.
The Technology Education Program is working with 8th grade students to create a fun Padlet featuring pictures, videos, quotes, etc. that the 8th graders will be able to have as a keepsake.
Chromebook and HotSpot Pick ups
As this school year comes to a close, we are planning for the next school year. Many new chromebooks will be distributed as students return in the fall, however, we also need to reuse many of the chromebooks that were distributed this year. Returning your current chromebook will help us repair any damage and prepare them for the new school year.
However, if you are using the devices over the summer for summer reading, Imagine Learning, iReady, Elefante Letrado, Learning A to Z, IXL, credit recovery, or summer programs - you may continue using your device. You will be asked to return the device in late August or as school begins so that we can inventory every device.
If you are leaving the District and/or you are not planning to use the devices over the summer, we have set up the following days, times, and locations for families to safely return the Chromebooks and/or HotSpot devices. Please utilize the location easiest for you to access in the time slot that is appropriate for your family. Additionally you can return multiple devices at the same time - even if they are for students in different grade levels.
Please drive or walk to the closest location and place the device(s) and chargers in the bin or box provided. Staff will guide you.
