Troy 30-C Monthly Happenings
With the sunny spring days finally here I feel a renewed sense of energy here at Troy 30-C. This has been such an important school year as we are working hard to provide an experience for our students that is more familiar and less fractured than what they have experienced most recently. This has posed some challenges, and I am very grateful for our teachers' and staff's effort, talent, dedication, care, and compassion. Every day the teachers and staff at Troy 30-C are working hard and improving students' lives. As spring break is coming to an end I know that there will be a sense of excitement as students and staff return to school on Monday, April 3 and push through the end of the school year. I look forward to hearing about our students' achievements every day. Continue to reach for your goals, they are closer than you think.
I invite you all to join me for Coffee with the Superintendent on Wednesday, April 12 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. I look forward to hearing from our families and community members at this event.

Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Our students take federally required assessments every spring. These assessments help us understand how our students are growing academically, compared to their peers across the state. The state uses this information to provide more support and resources to the schools in the greatest need. Troy students in grades 3-8 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in English language arts and math during our district’s window of April 4th-April 21st. These spring assessments correspond with what your child is learning in the classroom and with the performance expectations of the Illinois Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics.
Not one assessment can ever fully capture the skills and abilities of a great teacher or the extraordinary benefits and positive impact of a great school. This assessment is simply one reflection of your child’s academic growth. Assessments help provide a sense of where and how we are succeeding and where and how we must improve, along with other indicators, such as classroom work samples and teacher observations. The IAR assessment is designed to give schools and teachers more information to support improvement efforts and personalize teaching to better guide your child’s learning.

8th Grade Girls Volleyball Team
Congratulations to the 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Team! The Troy 8th Grade Girls Volleyball wrapped up a successful season with a state appearance down at Morton Junior High. The programs first since 2015. Their route to Morton included a Regional Championship against local rival Minooka followed by a Sectional Championship over conference foe Manhattan which earned them their trip to state where they suffered a first round defeat to fellow DPVC conference member and undefeated Homer Junior High. The girls wrapped up their season with a 16-4 record. Three of those four losses came at the hands of conference rivals Homer (twice) and Summit Hill, who finished 2nd and 3rd in the state respectively.
The 6th Grade Choir, 7th Grade Treble Choir, Tenor Bass Choir, 8th Grade Choir, and Honors Choir performed at the Illinois Grade School Music Association's District Contest held at Hickory Creek Middle School. Each choir represented themselves and Troy well! All ensembles earned Division 1 ratings, which is the highest rating. Additionally, both Tenor Bass and 8th Grade Treble received a perfect score from 1 of their 3 judges. A special thanks to Choir Directors Kelsey Robb and Daniel Mulligan!
Good luck to the Troy Choir at the State Contest which will be held on April 29 at Lisle High School.
