Troy 30-C Monthly Happenings
March 2023

Superintendent's Corner
With the sunny spring days finally here I feel a renewed sense of energy here at Troy 30-C. This has been such an important school year as we are working hard to provide an experience for our students that is more familiar and less fractured than what they have experienced most recently. This has posed some challenges, and I am very grateful for our teachers' and staff's effort, talent, dedication, care, and compassion. Every day the teachers and staff at Troy 30-C are working hard and improving students' lives. As spring break is coming to an end I know that there will be a sense of excitement as students and staff return to school on Monday, April 3 and push through the end of the school year. I look forward to hearing about our students' achievements every day. Continue to reach for your goals, they are closer than you think.
I invite you all to join me for Coffee with the Superintendent on Wednesday, April 12 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. I look forward to hearing from our families and community members at this event.

Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Our students take federally required assessments every spring. These assessments help us understand how our students are growing academically, compared to their peers across the state. The state uses this information to provide more support and resources to the schools in the greatest need. Troy students in grades 3-8 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in English language arts and math during our district’s window of April 4th-April 21st. These spring assessments correspond with what your child is learning in the classroom and with the performance expectations of the Illinois Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics.
Not one assessment can ever fully capture the skills and abilities of a great teacher or the extraordinary benefits and positive impact of a great school. This assessment is simply one reflection of your child’s academic growth. Assessments help provide a sense of where and how we are succeeding and where and how we must improve, along with other indicators, such as classroom work samples and teacher observations. The IAR assessment is designed to give schools and teachers more information to support improvement efforts and personalize teaching to better guide your child’s learning.
