Teacher Data
Please remember, I am asking that you have all student growth data entered into Google Drive by Monday, June 6th. Anna has been scheduling evaluation meetings beginning June 7th and I will need the data in order to finish your evaluations. Once you have uploaded all of your data into your Google Drive folder, please send me an email to let me know you are ready for me to complete your evaluation. Also, in preparing for your evaluation meeting with me, please be thinking about the professional goals you would like to set for yourself for next year. We will be completing your goals document as part of your evaluation meeting.
Field Day
This Wednesday, June 8th is Thomson Field Day! A huge 'thank you' to Mr. Welch for all the planning and organization that go into this wonderful day for our students, parents, and staff. Staff may wear their staff t-shirts and appropriate 'athletic gear' for field day. Remember if your class' field day time falls during your special and you are planning to use your special time to return to the classroom, please make the appropriate arrangements with that specials teacher. Also, while this is a very fun day for the students, please remember that it is important to review behavior expectations with your students prior to going out for field day. If you have students who will be missing any part of field day due to behavior, you must communicate this to parents prior to field day and please let me know.
The end of the year was down to two weeks and counting...
I know that this is a very exciting and busy time of year, but please remember that we have two weeks left...two weeks to continue to make a positive impact on our students academically, socially, and emotionally. I had a couple of teachers share with me last week that they had reached many end of year curriculum benchmarks with their students. This does not mean however that we stop teaching. I always looked forward to this time of year because it allowed me time to expand my students thinking and take the knowledge they had learned and apply it at a higher level, do things, and explore. With two full weeks of school left, we should not be packing up our classrooms as this sends the message that 'school is over', 'learning has stopped' and this is not the impression that we should be imparting on our students or the parents that are visiting our school. Packing up the classroom and taking things off walls and bulletin boards is what the last teacher work days are for. Remember...be creative these last few weeks, have fun with your students, but don't stop teaching...finish strong!
Kindergarten Math PLCs-Thursday
This Thursday kindergarten teachers will be meeting with Matt Lobban for three hours of professional development on the new Everyday Math materials. Please plan to follow the schedule that was sent earlier. I will follow-up with an email later this week on which teachers will 'share' a sub and confirm lunch times.
Graduation Week
This week both the DHS and DAE will graduate students. Seniors at DHS will graduate Monday, June 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Dort Federal Event Center and DAE Seniors will graduate Wednesday, June 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the DHS Auditorium. I want to thank those teachers that were able to participate in the DHS graduation for taking the time to do so. If this is your first time, you won't be disappointed. Please remember that you need to be there by 6:30 p.m. and that getting into the parking lot can be challenging, so you may want to plan to arrive early. Also, if you'd like to go out the after ceremony please see me. Even if you haven't planned to attend and now you realize your schedule isn't so busy, I encourage you to attend both of these. While they are very different ceremonies, they are both very exciting and moving to watch and be a part of.
