Wakeland Band and Color Guard

Weekly Update
Thank you to all of the students on their maturity as we drove south to Waco for the weather to not cooperate. You all did a terrific job handling the bus ride and understanding of the event being canceled.
Thank you to the parent chaperones, bus drivers and volunteers for their time and efforts Saturday to keep our students safe and relaxed as we worked our way around Dallas weather and traffic.
I know we are all disappointed in the outcome of Saturday being canceled but your work this year has been unbelievable and your final performance of the show is this Saturday. Let's go out and create lifelong memories and enjoy the day together! It is a day to celebrate you and your creativity and dedication to the WHS program.
As we wrap up the competition season this week, we will begin our winter concert prep and finish out in November with the final drumline contest and football games.
Please don't forget your region pass off videos for your ensemble classes. Region masterclasses are posted on the calendar. Please mark on your calendar. All students auditioning for all-region are required to attend their instrument specific masterclass.
A couple of reminders as we go throughout the week:
- FanPledge Donation can be made via PayPal on our website, Check, or FanPledge (link below).
- Scotty P's Spirit Dinner- Tuesday - 4 pm to close - we hope to see you there!

WHS Percussion:
Thank you to all of you for your flexibility with this past Saturday. It is unfortunate that the weather did not clear up and allow us to perform in Waco but we are happy we made it home safely.
This week, we will continue to fine tune the show in preparation for this weekend’s UIL Region Marching Contest and will also start adjusting the show in preparation for the Lone Star Drumline Contest on Nov. 10. More details about this contest can be found below.
During classes this week we will begin to shift our focus more heavily on Region preparation and give our soloists a chance to perform for their peers!

UPCOMING CLINICS
We are very fortunate to have Mr. Ausdemore and Dr. Zator with us this month!
Mr. Ausdemore will be with us on October 22 working with us on our drumline show. This is our first drumline practice after the marching contest season has finished as we begin to refine and modify the show for the Lone Star Drumline Contest.
Dr. Zator will be providing us a region etude clinic on October 23 during our 4B Class. This will be a 2 hour clinic beginning at 2:45p. Class will let out late at 4:45p so please make certain you have a ride home as you will not be able to make your bus.
Both of these educators are known very well around the world as top in the field, and having them with us is a very special occurrence.
LONE STAR DRUMLINE CONTEST - Marauder Stadium
The Drumline’s final competitive performance is on Nov. 10 at Marauder Stadium located at Marcus High School. We do not have our time yet for this performance however this will be an all day event beginning after our Community Parade Performance that morning. As soon as our performance time is finalized an itinerary will be sent out to all members and parents.
We will be competing with a modified version of the marching show with some added flair to showcase certain sections and members of the Wakeland Percussion. Certain students will also compete in the solo portion of the contest taking place while other groups are competing at the stadium.
Feel free to reach out at any time via email: teedb@friscoisd.org!
Thank you,
Brian Teed
Wakeland Color Guard
Good evening to all of you! I hope everyone has had an opportunity to relax this weekend. Thank you to our students, volunteers, and parent-base for your flexibility regarding yesterday's events. It has been an oddly rainy marching band season, although despite the conditions our students have strove to create another impressive Wakeland marching arts production. I could not be more proud of them for making this product come to life.
As we enter our final week of competition, keep in mind that our work is not finished until the moment we step off the field this Saturday. There is always something to improve (such is the world of Art!), and clarifications will continue to be made this week as we approach UIL. Keep in mind that we are still responsible for putting on a world-class production regardless of the type of competition!
While one season comes to an end, a new season begins: Winter Guard! Our Season Overview Meeting will take place next Thursday, October 25th @ 6pm in the WHS Band Hall. Auditions and Registration will take place the week of October 29th, and rehearsals begin the week of November 5th. Auditions are open to anyone at Wakeland High School - all are required to audition. Winter Guard Information can be found on the Wakeland Color Guard website! (http://www.wakelandcolorguard.org/)
Should you not continue with winter guard, please make arrangements with our booster treasurer for reimbursement if you paid for winter season back in May. Please note that regardless of Winter Guard, all color guard students are expected to attend the remaining football games and Frisco Community Parade.
Looking forward to another great week with the Wakeland Marching Band!
-Alonzo
Thank you and have a GREAT week!
