What is GMF?

Organism whose DNA has been altered for the purpose of improvement or correction of defects.


RISKS of GMF:

-the biggest threat caused by this food is that they can have harmful effects on the human body. It is believed that consumption of these genetically engineered foods can cause the development of diseases which are immune to antibiotics.


-manufacturers do not mention on the label that foods are genetically manufactured because they think that this would affect their business


BENEFITS of GMF:

-Genetically engineered foods are said to be high in nutrients, and contain more minerals and vitamins than those found in traditionally grown foods.


-There are some foods that cause allergy to people when consumed. By modifying the DNA system of these foods, the properties causing these allergies are eliminated successfully.




My Thoughts

I think for sure that we should have labels on our Genetically Engineered Foods.

61 countries with over 40% of the world’s population already label genetically engineered foods, including the entire European Union. Even China labels genetically modified foods. What do these countries know that we don’t ?
