Lake Fenton Community Schools
FALL NEWSLETTER
Happy Fall!
Now that we are six weeks into the school year, our students and staff have settled back into a regular routine, which is a welcoming feeling, after the past 20 months. It is great to have our students back full-time and see them enjoying the interactions with their classmates.
Homecoming Festivities
The Varsity Football team is asking Lake Fenton fans to help make Friday's game a Whiteout! Please dress in white or bring a small white towel to show your support.
The Homecoming game starts at 7:00 p.m. vs. Goodrich.
At half-time the 2021 Homecoming king and queen will be crowned and we will listen to music from our amazing band.
After the game, the band has a special "glow" performance for our families and guests.

Meet School Nurse - Jordan VanRiper
Hi Lake Fenton Community,
My name is Jordan VanRiper and I am the new district nurse. I was raised in Swartz Creek, where I still currently reside. I attended the University of Michigan-Flint where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I have been a registered nurse at Hurley Medical Center, in their pediatric departments for the past two years. In my spare time I enjoy being outside, traveling and cheering on my football team (GO BLUE). My family is a big part of my life, I am one of four siblings, along with my cat Rosie. I am excited to be a pivotal resource for your children here.
Jordan can be reached at 591-3692 or at jvanriper@lakefentonschools.org

A message from Lorie Grant, Food Service Director
The food service department is happy to be able to provide all meals, to all students, for free this year! This is a Government grant that allows us to do this. Along with the grant money, there are guidelines we must follow. This Grant allows for only one complete breakfast and lunch per student, per school day.
A breakfast includes: two grains or one grain and one protein item, one cup of fruit/vegetable and milk. To be a complete meal, 3 of the 4 items must be taken and one of the items must be a fruit or vegetable.
School Lunch is made up of 5 food groups. These groups are whole grain, protein foods, vegetables, fruit and milk. To be a complete meal, 3 of the 5 food groups must be taken and one must be a fruit or a vegetable.
Only one entrée is allowed for both meals. Students may purchase additional entrees or meal components at ala carte pricing.
Any questions, please feel free to contact the Food Service office at 810-591-9449 or email at lgrant@lakefentonschools.org.

Town Hall Meeting - A Conversation with District Leadership
The topic for this meeting will be mask requirements and quarantines.
If you have specific questions regarding this topic, we are asking you to submit those questions by October 18th, using the link below. We will provide answers to these questions during the meeting.
Genesee County Health Order Remains in Place
Governor Whitmer signed the state budget on Wednesday. The language within the budget stating that local health departments cannot issue health orders regarding mask mandates was deemed unenforceable and therefore does not change the current Emergency Health Order issued on September 13, 2021.
The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) communicated with local school districts that the Emergency Health Order is still in effect and will be enforced.
You may read the full order here: https://www.gchd.us/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/School-Masking-Order-Update-1.2-Dated-September-10-2021.pdf
Lake Fenton Community Schools appreciates your cooperation as we continue to follow the mask mandate, per the GCHD Emergency Health Order.
