Thank you again for the overwhelming amount of love everyone is showing our staff this week for Teacher Appreciation Week!!!

We are rounding the corner and approaching June. STAAR testing is this week and we will be glad to have the opportunity to show everyone what we know :-)

Also see below for a great opportunity to hear about the 2020-2021 school year from some of our amazing teachers and for parents to provide input on the district's K-2 Human Sexuality curriculum.

This has been addressed before but we know that things get lost over time. We do not accept deliveries for students for special occasions (e.g. birthdays, special events.) this is partly COVID-19 related and also we are following suit with many campuses regarding the elimination of birthday treats and bags.

We have received word that we are able to conduct an in-person 5th grade graduation and we could not be more excited. We will be working through logistics to create a memorable event for our first ever graduation class.

Classrooms will have an end of year activity which will be organized by the respective room parents.

Also note that we only recognize 5th grade graduates. We do not have events for our prek or kindergarten students.

May is Mental Health Awareness month. Whether you are concerned for a loved one, have some questions yourself, or want to keep your mind on its current positive path, being in the know of good mental health tools can be beneficial for us all.

Thank goodness there are organizations like Integral Care and NAMI to guide us towards our own "peace path". 🙂

After the past year of life being turned upside down, ALL of us, kids and adults, could use a little mind nurturing. 💙

Thank you to our Bear Creek families for all the generous donations of food and drinks to stock the teachers’ lounges on our campus during Teacher Appreciation Week. We have filled up fridges and cabinets with lots of snacks, fruit, sweets and cold drinks to get them through the end of this wild and crazy year. We appreciate your help and support in showing our Bear Creek teachers how amazing they are!

The Health and PE Department has been revising the K-2 Human Sexuality and Responsibility

curriculum for the 2021-2022 school year; the current curriculum is more than 12 years old.

Parent feedback is important to guide this work. This year, principals will need to schedule a

community meeting between May 10 and May 21, 2021, to invite your PreK-2nd grade parents

to learn about the HSR policies, K-2 revised curriculum, and how parents can take the survey.

The Office of Academics and Office of School Leadership expects to have PreK-2nd grade

parents/legal guardians provide feedback on the curriculum updates. The input will be used to

make any necessary changes to the draft K-2 lessons. The K-2 curriculum is expected to go to

SHAC in May and to the Board of Trustees in August. Once approved, this content, along with

the 3rd - 5th-grade lessons, will be taught in November/December during the 2021-2022 school

year.
