The Tigard Festival of Balloons

June 23rd-25th, 2023 - Volunteers needed!

The Tigard Festival is a place for families and friends to gather, play, and relax. The Festival of Balloons is a non-profit 503(c)(3) organization raising funds for many non-profit groups in Tigard while providing a premier family event for the entire community. The Tigard High Athletic Boosters play a big role by running the parking lot entrances & we also are helping run admissions this year as well. Please check out the new sign-up link below. Our volunteers have raised thousands of dollars every year to support our high school sports teams. Every hour you volunteer raises money for your sport. Also, if you work 1 volunteer shift you get free admission into the festival for that day! Work 2 or more shifts & get free admission for the 3-day festival!

Parenting and Mental Health / Clases para padres y salud mental

Presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Washington County and Shattering Stigma with Stories.

Addressing the youth mental health crisis for parents, teachers, coaches, and anyone else who works with or supports school age youth.

Spanish interpretation will be provided - register by May 26th to confirm your spot!

Note for parents: Childcare is NOT provided for this event.

We wanted to take a few moments to clarify the baccalaureate celebration on June 7th. Please know that this event is completely optional, open to all students and families regardless of religious affiliation, and is not hosted or sponsored by the school or school district. It is in our auditorium through the normal community facility use process, and information has been updated and clarified on our website.

AmeriCorps

Are you thinking about a gap year after high school or are you unsure about what you want to do? AmeriCorps (specifically National Civilian Community Corps) is a federally funded program that deploys teams of young people to perform community service in different regions of the country. It is a 10 month program that includes food, housing, travel expenses, and a small stipend. There will be an information session in the Career Center during both lunches on Wednesday, May 24th.

Attention Juniors! NROTC Scholarship applications for the graduating class of 2024 are open! This scholarship provides 4 years of schooling to over 150 universities across the nation, including Oregon State University! An NROTC Rep will be in the Career Center on Tuesday May 16th to explain the program and provide more information.

The girls golf state tournament was held at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks on Monday and Tuesday. Miya Zolkoske shot 95 round one and improved to 89 in round two for a total of 184. Avery Zwick shot a 100 on Monday and came back with 96 on Tuesday for a total of 196. Hailey Shimojima also qualified for the state tournament, but withdrew her spot.

The boys golf state tournament was at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Crestwell on Monday and Tuesday. The team finished 2nd with a score of 617. Jennings Oelke tied for 3rd overall with total two round score of 147, Jennings shot 73/74. Douglas Bailey tied for 8th overall with a total of 148. All eyes were on on Douglas in round 1 because no other players could keep up with him as he shot 69. Aiden Lopez shot 78/81 for a total of 159. Matthew Beckett shot 84/80 for 164, and Brady Jordan shot 91 on Monday and improved to 80 on Tuesday for tournament total of 171.

The girls track & field team won the TRL District Meet with a total of 146 team points and Doug Kuffel was named TRL Coach of the year.

Top 2 finishers automatically qualify for state and the 3 place finisher could qualify as a wildcard.

Sydney Board competed for the girls tennis team in the Singles Bracket at the state tournament. Sydney had a first round bye and went on to win in the second round 6-3/6-1. She fell in the third round matches to Claudia Barbieri from Ida B. Wells 6-3/6-4.
