Cougar Connection
St. Columba Catholic School - News Every Week - 5/1/22
We are officially in the last month of the school year. Last week marked the half-way point of the fourth quarter and teachers updated grades on Friday for review.
During this final month, we will have plenty of things going on! Please be sure to check below and ensure you have all of the dates set in your calendars!
One of our big final activities is the final set of STAR Assessments over the next two weeks. The results of these assessments will be good indicators of the growth our students have exhibited this year. They will also help us make decisions about curriculum and plans for next year. On the days that your child is testing, please ensure your child has had a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.
Finally, the month of May is the month of honoring Mary. Our students will be taking special time in classes this month focusing on our Blessed Mother. Each day, our students will be saying a decade of the rosary and connecting with the various Mysteries of the Rosary. Our special commitment to Mary during the month of May will be highlighted by our May Crowning Ceremony on May 20th after Mass. It is a beautiful event that you will not want to miss.
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, May 2: Preschool/Pre-K Closed
- Tuesday, May 3: 4th, 6th, 7th Grade STAR Reading Testing
- Wednesday, May 4: May the Forth be With You: Wear STAR WARS clothes with uniform bottoms; Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd Grade STAR Reading Testing
- Thursday, May 5: 1st, 5th, and 8th Grade STAR Reading Testing
