Ways to schedule COVID Vaccines for Kids (5 - 12)

  • ***NEW - Please save and send "egg cartons" to school. These will be used by Mr. Vance's Art Classes. Thanks!!!

  • Colerain Parent/Teacher Conferences - start tomorrow (Nov. 9th) - Please reach out to your student's classroom teacher if you have not yet scheduled a conference.

  • Colerain Robotics Club - Tuesday, November 9th from 3:40p - 5p in the Colerain Library

  • Ms. Debra Out of the Office - Wednesday, November 3rd - Tuesday, November 9th - continue to send attendance updates to (or call the school at 614-365-6001). She will update attendance when she returns so you may ignore any absent notifications during this window.

  • Colerain Elementary Website - I have been slowly updating our Colerain Elementary Website. Please bookmark: I have included links to my newsletters and a calendar of events. I will also update the staff directory soon.

  • Dublin's Special Education Advancement Council - send a request to to get added to their email newsletter full of information, classes, and resources.

  • Asynchronous Days (at home) - Monday, November 22nd & Tuesday, November 23rd (there is also no school Nov. 24th - Nov. 26th due to Thanksgiving Break)

  • ***NEW DATE - Sensory & Self-Regulation Strategies for Use at Home - Tuesday, November 16th @7p
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences - Tuesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 18th - sign ups and zoom links will be sent by classroom teachers. In the meantime, please review the "How to Prepare for Parent/Teacher Conferences" Presentation below for some tips on how to get the most out of these valuable conversations.
  • Colerain Intro to PBIS - Monday, November 15th @ 7p - PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) is an important and valuable framework at Colerain. It helps ensure a positive, predictable, safe, and equitable school environment for all students.

Staff Highlight - Donna Harris

Q: What is your role?

A: Gifted Instructional Specialist (GIS)

Q: What is your responsibility?

A: I work with identified Colerain students in grades k-2 and children who have scored high on an iReady test.

Q: What is one thing you want families to remember/learn about your program/class?

A: I am a resource for parents so if you have any questions regarding Gifted Education within Columbus City Schools. Additionally, The Survival Guide for Parents of Gifted Kids by Sally Yahnke Walker is a great resource. This book briefly covers many topics pertaining to gifted and talented kids.

Q: Are there any hobbies, interests, or stories you would like to share?

A:I have two children, 2 cats, and a Bichon Frise dog. When given the opportunity, I really enjoy traveling.

  • I have used the "Libby" App for years to download audio books to my phone. I have also checked out and sent ebooks directly to my kindle. Let me know if you would like any help setting this up!!!

PBIS Tier 2

  • PBIS Tier 2 is for SOME students and provides targeted support for students who are not successful with Tier 1 supports alone.
  • The focus is on supporting students who are at risk for developing more serious problem behavior before they start.
  • The core practices guiding Tier 2 include Tier 1 core practices and:
    • Increased instruction and practice with self-regulation and social skills
    • Increased adult supervision
    • Increased opportunities for positive reinforcement
    • Increased pre-corrections
    • Increased focus on possible function of problem behaviors
    • Increased access to academic supports

Upcoming District/Community Events

  • Ohio's Statewide Family Engagement Center Advisory Council - applications are now open. See flyer below for details - We are seeking a diverse group of parents and caregivers of children birth to Grade 12 from all regions of Ohio. Applications are limited to parents and caregivers who are not professional educators or administrators. We are looking for families that have children currently enrolled in public schools in Ohio.

Colerain Building Leadership Team (BLT)

  • A Building Leadership Team (BLT) is one of the many ways to ensure student academic success.
  • A BLT is a school-based group of individuals (teachers, administrators, instructional assistance, etc) who focus on school improvement and supporting Teacher Based Teams (TBTs).
  • The BLT focuses on building needs and then sets goals for the areas of weakness.
  • The BLT then helps finds resources and information that will help address these areas of weakness and provide an action plan for success.

Phase 6 (Transform) - Wednesday, December 1st @ 6p at Whetstone High School

  • We will evaluate the options created in the Phase 5 - Consider workshop. What are the pros and cons of each option? We will break into small groups and evaluate what option makes the most sense for your region. Come be a part of live decision making and consensus building. Please request translation services when registering.
