A Message for Parents
The last few weeks have presented many challenges for everyone in our community and across the world. Most likely, many more challenges lie ahead. As your family adjusts to remote learning, I wanted to share a couple of reminders.
- Please know that no one expects you to replicate exactly what would normally happen in your child's classroom. And even if you could, that is probably not what is best for your student right now. In this moment of time, the most important thing for all of our children might just be a little bit of hope, a little bit of positivity, and a whole lot of love.
- Our teachers are highly qualified and do fantastic work. They will continue that work, knowing the instruction they deliver will not be as refined and as polished as it is under normal circumstances. Just as you are adjusting to these circumstances, so are our teachers. We are all learning every day, in an everchanging set of circumstances.
- No student is going to be left behind. We know that we will eventually go back to school. When that does happen, teachers will not simply pick up where they left off when our students left us. We know that we are going to have to go back and make up for this lost time. Schools all over the country will have to adapt their approach to meet kids where they are when they return to school.
This community is an amazing place to work. When I think about our families, I know that so many of you have faced your own challenges. I know that so many of you have stories of grit, determination, and perseverance. In the same that so many of you have risen above these obstacles, we will rise above this challenge too.
In closing, please know that even though we are separated and maintaining our distance for reasons of health and safety, there is no distance that the love our teachers and staff have for your children can not traverse.
