Principal's Message:

Hello Tennyson Texan Families!

We are getting close to the start of the school year! We look forward to seeing you either in-person or remotely on September 8th. If you haven't elected for in-person or remote learning we are assuming that you will be in-person. Next week we have several things happening including days and times for remote learners to pick up their chrome books, demonstrations of our new health safety procedures, and a virtual meet-the-teacher event! Please see below for more details. I hope the students enjoy one more week of their extended Spring Break and are ready to get back to learning!

Instructional Plan

Tennyson Middle School has made leaps and bounds in growth and we are going 1:1! That means every student will have a device and teachers are already highly trained in blended learning (using technology to enhance learning). Students will continue to login to Clever as they did in the Spring but will now be using a Learning Management System called Canvas. This system serves as the hub of all the tools teachers and students will be using throughout the year. We have purchased additional tools for our teachers here at Tennyson such as Nearpod, Edpuzzle, and BreakoutEDU to name a few. The teachers have also received extensive training in the Google Suite of products and most of our teachers are already Google certified educators! That's a really big deal! It's going to be an exciting year and we can't wait to get it started!

CoVID-19 Plan Updates

  • Supply List Adjustment: Please have your student come to school with a set of headphones (CRAZY, right?!?!)
  • Bring a water bottle! The drinking fountains have been converted into water bottle fillers.
  • Please Remember: Social distancing in all classrooms with masks is required at all times
  • No visitor policy in place including the delivery of food
  • Students will be eating in the cafeteria, socially distanced.
  • Staff and students will be screened, including temperature checked, when entering the building.
  • If you or your student are displaying potential symptoms of COVID-19, please keep your student home and call us! We have a plan to provide continuous instruction.

Student Schedules

Student Schedules will be accessible via Parent Portal on September 1st. More information including the login for Parent Portal and how to create an account can be found here:

Every student will be issued a chrome book. Parents may decline a device if they have their own but 8th graders should probably get one anyway as the graphing calculator (TI-84) software will be installed on them. In-Person learners will receive devices on the first day of school. At-Home learners need to pick up their chrome book at the times listed in the flyer below. Chromebook distribution will be out of the library doors (just like with laptop distribution in the Spring). This is the parking lot to the right if you are facing the school. If you are unable to make it to these times please let us know and we will help make other arrangements.

As of now, yes, we are having athletics. If you have a student in athletics, they need a physical! All athletics communication, forms, etc are coming through the Rank One Parent Portal: There's even an app! So cool!
