Mrs. Birkland's Kindergarten Class
Take a look at our week: Sept 12-15
This week’s letters were Tt, Tick- tock Clock and Mm, Humming Monkey. Ask your child the sign for Tick- tock Clock and Humming Monkey. When we learn our letters, we do a fun activity. With Tt we sorted some pictures. Those that started with /t/ and those that did not start with /t/. With Mm we made up a story about our humming monkey. You see, he is wearing head phones. So, we decided to try to tell a story that told us how he maybe got these headphones. The story was very creative. We also search for letters in poems. We read Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear and Muffin Man. Make sure to read these poems at home as they come home in your child’s daily folder. During this time we also worked on our kindergarten high frequency words. This week we learned 3 more. We learned you, the, and my.
*The charts we read have a number at the top along with the title. I ask your child to take this home and read to you on the days we do this. If they do, please sign it and return it to school the next day. Rereading materials is the best way to get these Kindergarten words stuck in their brains. :)

Words We are learning to read
Reading on our own!
1-2 Red Delicious
1-2 Granny Smith
1-2 Golden Delicious
ipad apps-DO NOT ADD THEM PLEASE!
Also, as I said earlier, please keep chargers at a safe place at home. When they come to school, there is the possibility of them getting left and then you won't be able to charge your child's iPad that night.
Thanks so much for your help!

Just a Few Reminders
- If your child is in flip-flops or open sandals, they will not be able to play on the woodchip areas during recess. Have them wear tennis shoes or pack a pair.
- Towels come home every other Friday for washing and need to be returned on Monday.
- If you have not already sent in a change of clothes for your child, please do so. The nurse is already running out of clothes for Kindergarten age students. If your child does borrow clothes form the nurse, please wash them and return them. Thanks!
