REFLECTIONS FROM YOUR PTSA
A LOOK BACK:
- The Holiday Shopper's Showcase on 11/12 was a great success, raising over $1000 for the Music Appreciation Fund. Thank you to all our participants, both vendors and shoppers!
- The Coupon Book sale, our largest fund-raiser of the year, has come to an end with over $14,000 raised for our PTSA. Thank you for all of your support! We would like to send a special THANK YOU to Leslie Mast, the woman behind the scenes who practically single-handedly makes this entire fundraiser happen from beginning to end. We literally couldn't do it without her!
- Our BJ's Wholesale Club Membership drive has ended and we thank everyone who renewed or joined during this time.
LOOKING AHEAD:
- Festivus at the PES is coming up in December. This is an opportunity for our K-5 students to pick out a free gift for somebody special. Volunteers are needed. Please see below for information.
- The PES Art Department is using funds raised during the Square-One Art fundraiser to create art gallery space in both the North & South ends of the complex. One gallery will be a permanent collection, like a museum, and the second gallery will be a rotating student exhibit space. We are proud to have assisted in raising the funds necessary to produce such a unique space for our student artists.
- A gentle reminder that if you are shopping on Amazon, you can raise funds for the PTSA through Amazon Smile. Just click the link below and use the Smile link as you normally would use Amazon and a portion of every purchase will be donated to us!
- As always, we encourage you and your family members to join and/or renew your PTSA membership. It's simple to do, only $5 per person annually and membership does NOT mean you must volunteer!
We wish everyone a New Year filled with health & happiness!

February Read-A-Thon
On Thursday, February 16, our school will be conducting its annual school-wide read-a-thon. This year, we will continue to focus on reading with our Reading Outreach to Community, Kids, and Schools or Reading R.O.C.K.S. read-a-thon.
The proceeds of this year’s read-a-thon will help sponsor an author visit next year and a Family Literacy Night event. There is nothing quite like school author visits to get kids reading, writing, and understanding the creative process. Meeting authors makes the writing process, books, and the authors themselves accessible and read to students. It is a magical experience that they will remember for a long time. Look for information coming home with your child in January about how you can participate in this amazing event that celebrates all that reading has to offer.

Community Reading Partnership
Help spread literacy in our community! A Volunteer Bookshelf Supervisor is needed by the Community Reading Partnership to oversee “Guardian” volunteers who stock 15 to 20 active Little Red Bookshelves in the Canandaigua area with free books.
This person should be reasonably familiar with children’s books and able to oversee the processing of books donated at locations in Canandaigua schools. The Bookshelf Supervisor sits on the Community Reading Partnership Board which meets monthly at the library.
To express interest, contact CRP President Mary Ferris, c/o Wood Library, 134 North Main St. Canandaigua, NY 14424 or email CRP at communityreadingpart@gmail.com
