PikMyKid Reminder
Just a reminder to check your PikMyKid app, if there are changes for transportation that need to be made for the remainder of the year or if there have been changes with your students dismissal to use the app to updated those changes. If you need help, please reach out to the office.
Attendance Matters
It is important for every student in Ohio to attend school every day. Attendance studies routinely show the connection between regular attendance and critical school measures such as reading proficiently, performing well academically, and graduating from high school.
Chronic absence is defined in Ohio as a student missing 10% or more of the school year for any reason – excused, medically excused, unexcused and suspensions.
Chronic absenteeism is part of Ohio’s report card as part of Ohio’s Every Student Succeeds Act Plan. Ohio, along with 35 other states, uses chronic absenteeism as a measurement of student success under the Gap Closing Component.

JANUARY CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH: Honesty
Here at Sycamore Creek, students will be learning about HONESTY this month - what it means, and why it is important! Check out the family newsletter below.
Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. Consider “Practicing it” by helping your students learn the difference between a truth and a lie with these two simple games: These games can be played in the car or while you are waiting in a line.
Game 1: You and your student take turns saying statements and the other person has to decide if the statement is a truth or a lie.
Game 2: Two Truths and a Lie: one person makes 3 statements. 2 statements are truths and 1 is a lie. The other person has to decide which statement is a lie.
