HAPPY MONDAY!

Have a wonderful week! Thank you for all that you do to make FHN a great place to work and learn.

CELEBRATIONS

  • Congratulations to Jordyn Klackner for being named a National JEA Rising Star Award Recipient.
  • Congratulations to HOSA for collecting a 173 units of blood. That is an awesome accomplishment. This will help a lot of people!

SPECIAL EVENT

FHN will be hosting the Awaken Project Assembly on Friday, March 10th. The assembly will focus on drug awareness. Joe Richardson and Jeff Mozingo have teamed up and travel nationally to tell their story. Joe lost his son, BJ to heroin. BJ was a student at Howell North. Jeff uses his music skills to the presentation. You can learn more about the Awaken Project by visiting http://www.awakenproject.org/

More information about the schedule will be forthcoming.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent / Teacher Conferences:

March 14, 2017

Teachers will be in the Large Gym.

Counselors will be in the guidance office for presentations.

Parents are encouraged to attend both evenings. The first conference is intended to help and encourage students improve on quarter grades. The second conference is designed to reflect on 3rd quarter and look at strategies that may help all students improve. We look forward to seeing you there.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE

Please make sure that you are reviewing our emergency procedures with all of your classes. New class rosters need to be added to your SEOP binders. Keep your SEOP binder visible and within reach of your phone. Our next scheduled drill is January 17th at 1:38 pm(Earthquake).

ATTENDANCE

The Attendance Committee met last week. Below is a summary of our agenda items:

Discussion Items:

Reviewed the list of action steps we created last month to try to reverse the downward trend in attendance

Talked about creating flyers for teachers to place in their rooms

Preliminary talks about procuring bigger attendance prizes for some projects next year.

Action Items:

Follow-up with all Attendance Allies to check on how things are going

Planning for our next Fun Friday (2/10)

Knights @ 90: FHN currently has 87.89% of students attending 90% of the time. As you can tell, there has been a steady decline since the Fall. Please remind students that there are attendance requirements for Final Exam Exemptions, and the A+ program. We would also love to have more staff participate as Attendance Allies to help mentor some of our students who are struggling with attendance.

FUN FRIDAY:

The Activities Office and the Attendance Committee are sponsoring our next Fun Friday on February 10th. We encourage all staff and students to come hang out, listen to our band and cheerleaders and see students win prizes for their attendance. This event takes place in the Commons from 7am-7:15. See you there!

CLIMATE

On February 2nd, we will have visiting students from Confluence Preparatory Academy with us on Thursday, February 2nd. They will be attending 2nd, 3rd and 6th hour classes with their FHN partners. If one of these students will be visiting your class you will get a direct email. Please join us in welcoming our visitors!
