Cedar Grove Friday Flash
March 5, 2021
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
We were thrilled to welcome back some of our students in the ASD program as well as their teachers and paraeducators this week. It was such a joy to see the children return and to finally see some new faces in person that we had only seen in Zoom classrooms. It's been a very smooth transition, and the children have had a wonderful first week of school!
Students in kindergarten through third grade whose parents opted for the partial in-person return will begin school on March 15. For these families, we will be hosting a parent/student orientation meeting on Thursday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. to share specific information about safety and health procedures, schedules, transportation, and more. We will be sending a separate communication to parents of partial in-person students with the link for this meeting soon.
As a reminder, this Monday, March 8 is a professional day for teachers, and there will be no school for students. In addition, on March 9 and 10, students will be working independently on asynchronous activities. Please look for this information from your child's teacher on what students will be completing during those two days.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Derby and Mrs. German
March Book Madness 2021!
March Book Madness is underway, and we hope your students are "reading" the books by going to the March Book Madness Slide Deck. They just need to click on a book cover and listen to the read aloud. And yes, as in past years, we have guest readers! Look for the first online ballot to vote on the first eight books of the bracket. The ballot for the first elimination round will also be linked to the first slide in the slide show. All responses are due Friday, March 5. Feel free to email Mrs. Hirschhorn if you have any questions!
Holds to Go at Cedar Grove ES - Important Update - Please read!
We will have our Holds to Go program on Wednesday, March 10 as we have these past months.
However, starting Monday, March 15, our process will change to include our students who have returned to our building.
Please review this video, which explains the changes to our Holds to Go process. Students in the building and students who are remaining virtual will "check out" books by putting them on hold in Destiny. They will be able to put three books on hold and check out three books but only if their account is clear. We encourage all students to return their media books as soon as possible, so they can be quarantined and checked in to clear your students' accounts.
For our students in the building, we will process the holds and bring the books to their classrooms. For our students who are virtual, we will continue the process as we have in the past, but there will be a short suspension time. We hope to begin our new and improved holds to go pickup after spring break.
Please feel free to contact Mrs. Hirschhorn if you have any questions!
Tech Tips and Reminders
From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
As we start the month of March, there will be a lot of changes that will also affect our media program. Please make sure you take a good look at the March Media Monthly, bookmark it, and visit it often. It will be updated very often with important information, especially after March 15. Let's hope spring is really around the corner!
