Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,

I hope everyone has been enjoying the first few days of Christmas Recess!

Last week was a joyous one for our school community with being able to have some of our traditional events back again this year!

Thank you to Mrs. Gaherty for organizing the Procession to the Crib on Tuesday and Father Max for blessing the school's Nativity.

Thank you to Mrs. Sweeney and MacDonald for organizing a wonderful Advent Concert! It was so nice to be able to have this traditional event return this year!

Thank you to Mrs. White, all the FSA/parent volunteers, and the Knights of Columbus for treating the students to another Breakfast with Santa! The food was delicious and the students loved seeing Santa!

Lastly, thank you to the parents who sincerely and generously illustrated their appreciation to the faculty for the Christmas gifts and Snowflake fund. Your children are a gift to us on a daily basis and we treasure the opportunity to teach them!

I hope everyone has a very holy and merry Christmas!

Sincerely in Christ,

Brian Pope

Pre-K

Click the link below to check out this week's Pre-K Happenings!

Kindergarten

Kindergarten had the most joyful week! We traveled to Sweden and celebrated St. Lucy, Canada to see moose, Mexico to learn about los posadas and finally home. In America we laid baby Jesus in the manager filled with straw from our good deeds and enjoyed cookies and milk! Our Christmas elf Snowflake finally made an appearance today and wrote us a note. She told us she has been watching from afar and is so proud that kindergarten knows the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus!

1st Grade

The first graders had a great first week of school before Christmas break! They were very busy making Christmas gifts and doing Christmas crafts. Surprise readers came and read Christmas stories to them. They ended their week as the Nativity at the Advent concert and having breakfast with Santa . The first graders wish everybody a very Merry Christmas!

2nd Grade

2nd grade lead our school in the annual Procession to the Crib. Thank you Fr. Max for stopping by with blessings!

4th Grade Saints

6th Grade Art

Mrs. LaLiberty covered a few classes for Mrs. Sweeney this week and played fun and creative games with the students! Here they are following specific instructions while drawing snowmen on their heads!

Spirit of St. Francis

Mr. Pope treated first quarter Spirit of St. Francis award winners to lunch at Marley's Shrimp and Burger Shack on Tuesday! Students are nominated by their homeroom teachers each quarter for showing good character, in line with our patron saint. We pray the Prayer of St. Francis every morning to start our day.

Moss Creek Equestrian Center would like to thank you for your support. We will be hosting two schools for the spring session: St. Francis and Heritage Academy. Our program’s goal is to share the love of horses, learn how to care for the animal as well as riding. At the end of the session we will host a friendly interscholastic competition. The co-ed team is open to students from each school 1st through 8th grade. The riding team will be an eight-week course meeting once a week (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoons). At the end of the eight weeks, we will have a horse show for all the participants to compete as individuals and as a school.

The classes will be held starting:

February 15th Tuesday 4:30pm - Heritage Academy Beginners

February 18th Friday 3:30pm - St. Francis and Heritage Academy Intermediate / Advanced Combined

February 18th Friday 4:30pm - St. Francis Beginners

February 20th Sunday 3:30pm- St. Francis Beginners

February 20th Sunday 4:30pm - Heritage Academy Beginners

No experience necessary! We supply helmets, and we ask that all riders wear shoes with a heel (boots preferred) and long pants. This will be a fun experience for all!
