Each month, staff members will have the opportunity to fill out a designated note when observing a student demonstrating one of the five CARES behaviors: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy or Self control. Congratulations to all of the students that received this award for May! The LAST CARES celebration of the year will be held on Tuesday, June 4th!

These recipients will have cinnamon rolls & juice with Mrs. Molitor during morning meeting.

We have a 3 hour early release on Thursday, June 6th, our last day. A bag lunch will be served to students on that day. All students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm. Please make plans accordingly. We request that all students follow their normal routine home as usual on this busy day. This will help to insure that children get home safely.

Glendale Goodbyes

Each year the ending of the school year brings staff transitions as enrollment needs change within our district.

We want to thank our staff members who were at Glendale for this school year. We appreciate all of their dedication to students at Glendale. We wish them the best next year and are so thankful we were able to work with these great educators.

There are a few changes coming for the 2019-20 school year:

*Scott Richardson, our Special Ed Team Lead, will be heading back to the classroom in the middle schools.

*Susan Perez, a Life Skills Para, will be exploring a new career of Assistant Director at a daycare center.

*Nichole Macias, Special Ed Teacher, will be splitting her time up between WestWood & La Ola Del Lago.

*Michael Roiger, 1st grade teacher, will continue his teaching career in another district.

*Tara Keithahn, our Occupational Therapist, is taking a new job in the Anoka-Hennepin School District after being with PLSAS for 14 years.

And last but certainly not least, our Social Worker, Wanda Ryan, is retiring from Glendale after 22 years in the district. She plans to spend time with her 3 grand babies (plus one on the way!) and enjoy more of her passions: crafting, gardening & baking.

Congratulations to each of them! They will all be greatly missed & we wish them the best of luck on their new journeys.

2019-20 Open House for Grades 1-5

Our 2019-20 Open House for grades 1-5 will be held on Wednesday, August 28th

from 3:30-5:30PM. Mark your calendars for "Back to School Night." This is an exciting

day to meet your teacher and see the classroom! Kindergarten orientation will be on

September 3rd for A-L and September 4th for M-Z. Parents are asked to come on those days 8:30-9:00AM then students will stay from 9:00AM-12:00PM.

PLSAS elementary schools will again hold "Great Start to Kindergarten." Designated days in

August were set aside for incoming Kindergarten students to come in prior to the school

year to be assessed. This gave the teachers an excellent indication where those students

were academically, so that curriculum planning could begin on day one. This year practice will continue and the dates for our Kindergarten assessments will be August 1st-8th.

We will also be following the same practice for our 1st through 5th grade students for the upcoming school year. On September 3rd & 4th, 1st- 5th grade students will be scheduled for an assessment time with their teacher. You will receive information in the back to school mailing the week of August 19th.

Looking Ahead to 2019-20
