Northern Rat Flea
Nosopsyllus fasciatus (vector)
Habitat and How its Spread
Though the Northern Rat Flea originated in Europe, it is now spread worldwide through rodents and international trade. They are the most common flea for rats in warmer climates. Though they are most common on rats, they will infect a number of other hosts. The Northern Rat flea excels in slightly damp and dirty areas, generally areas with large amounts of trash.
