January = Work Ethic

Quote of the Month:

“Working hard becomes a habit, a serious kind of fun. You get self-satisfaction from pushing yourself to the limit, knowing that all the effort is going to pay off.” ― Mary Lou Retton

ALICE INFORMATION

ALiCE is an easy to remember acronym that stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. ALiCE was developed by Greg Crane, law enforcement officer and security consultant, to keep his wife’s (an elementary school principal) school safe after the events of Columbine. ALICE was the very first training program in the country that provided staff and students with optional responses in response to a suspicious intruder.

A Note

It is wonderful to see all of our students back with us this week! I sent an email out on Monday after we opened up the cafeteria for lunches. Please be assured we are abiding by district Covid safety guidelines and have an approved plan for this transition. This was not a decision that was made lightly or without careful thought & consideration.

Do you have lightly used clothing or winter gear?

Our school counselor, Mrs. Riegert, is starting a Character Closet with things we may be able to recycle for those who might benefit from gently used items. We are looking for:

elementary sized sweatpants, t-shirts, socks, sweatshirts and winter gear. If you have items to donate please send them in with your child or drop them off to the office during school hours. We appreciate your help ahead of time and look forward to being able to give back to our own school community!

We need your help! If you are willing to sponsor the event, donate an item/basket, or know someone who can, please email the PTA at plprairiepta@gmail.com. We are also seeking volunteers to help plan the event. Please see the forms below for more information & we look forward to seeing you there!

Donor Form

All proceeds benefit YOUR children!

In 2020, our gala raised $15,000. The ongoing pandemic has made fundraising more difficult than ever and we need your support! This year, the money will be used to for the new playground installation/flooring and other school updates as determined by PPE administration and voted on by general PTA membership.

Here are some ways you can be involved:

* Donate a themed basket, sport/theatre tickets, electronics, gift cards, vacation stays, etc.

* Become a sponsor of the event

* Make phone calls or visit local businesses to inquire about donations & sponsorships

* Help the day of the event with set-up, clean-up, and/or auction check-out

We know that investing in children’s education at a young age will have a positive impact on their futures, as well as on our community and our world. Please contact us with any questions or ideas.

Watch for ticket order forms in early January!

Thank you for your support!

Please Send With Your Student

⛄Cold weather gear. Hat, mittens, scarf, warm jacket. Weather permitting, student go out for recess each day. If you need help with getting cold weather gear please fill out this form and we can help!

👕A change of clothes. Please send a complete extra set of clothing for your child to keep in his/her backpack for emergencies so we don't have to bother you to bring them. They may fall in water at recess or spill something at lunch. Extra clothes will allow your student to quickly return to class.

Pick Up/Drop Off🦺

📝Note: THE SIDE LOT IS FOR SPECIFIC STUDENTS to be dropped off & picked up. Unless you have permission to park and/or pick up there you must use the pick up/drop off line and may NOT enter or exit this lot from the back of the school.
We appreciate your help to ensure a safe & timely drop off/pick up by remaining in your vehicles and out of the parking lots. Have students ready to exit your vehicles when you pull up. If a family member is picking up please remind them of this.
❄We have removed the barricades and cones in preparation for winter weather, however ask that you continue to observe our established protocol at these times.
