2nd Grader Reads 500 Books before High School
Town Hall Library has a reading program for independent readers in first through eighth grades called 500 Books Before High School. Readers are asked to read and record the title, author, and number of pages. The pages are added together and every 100 pages read equals one book.
The number of pages is important because it allows for success at all reading levels and the varying lengths of books. First-graders may read fewer pages in a book whereas eighth-graders often find books with several hundred pages and both are able to achieve success. So, there is no reason older readers shouldn’t start today.
If you do the math, Angove read 50,000 pages in just over one year in the program. Stop in at the Town Hall Library Youth Services area and sign up for the 500 Books Before High School reading program.
Counselor's Corner
This is a friendly reminder that the orientation session for freshmen students entering Arrowhead in fall of 2020 is coming up. The two nights for orientation are Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday, January 22nd. Our students from Stone Bank School are scheduled to attend on Wednesday, January 22nd from 6:30-7:00p.m. in Arrowhead’s South Campus library. If you cannot make that date or time please attend later that evening or on Tuesday, January 21st between 6:15-8:00p.m.
On the morning of January 14th, the school counselors from Arrowhead were at Stone Bank School to meet with the 8th graders and pass out all information that they will need to register for high school classes in the upcoming weeks. Please return the white student enrollment and information sheet to Mrs. Zdrojewski by Wednesday, January 22nd.
Please call or email me with any scheduling questions. ALL freshman SHOULD sign up for WINGS under summer school, this is a valuable freshman orientation experience.
Parents, please take a look at our kindness challenge for 2020!
We would like everyone to ask themselves, how are you going to be KIND this year? It is a new year, so we can all have a fresh start at treating each other with kindness! It is a great time to take a few minutes to decide what is one thing that you can do to be kind throughout the rest of our school year. What will you do?
