An exciting week in 2nd grade!
No more homework packets - Study Island Required!
HOMEWORK PACKET
Last week your child brought home their last homework packet!
From now on, your child will be given spelling and vocabulary words each week, and they will be assigned Study Island homework assignments to be completed, these are REQUIRED not OPTIONAL.
Students must complete at least 25 questions on each assignment to receive full credit. Their grade on study island will be their homework score. This will help them prepare for the MAP test and ITBS tests.
IF you would like for your child to get some extra practice during the week other than Study Island, please encourage them to work on the MAP testing practice links below.
MAP Testing is right around the corner!
Simply click the RIT scores your child falls in and have them work on the different concepts they need to improve on!

Tellus Museum Field Trip
We followed the "fossiliferous" program. During this program we learned about the different eras and saw different dinosaurs from each era. We learned about compacting fossils and how they were made, and made some of our own. We learned how to do a rubbing of a fossil. We were able to 'dig' for fossils and choose some special ones to take home with us. We enjoyed a picnic lunch outside in the BEAUTIFUL weather. Lastly, students were able to explore the "My Big Backyard" science exhibit where they were able to play and enjoy the different science games with their peers.
We returned from our trip at the very end of the day, and your students had a BLAST!
Here are just a few special photos from our day. Make sure you check out the Homeroom App for ALL of the uploaded photos :)

Ms. P's Math:
We will spend the week continuing Fractions! This week we will focus on ordering fractions and adding/subtracting like fractions. We will work on our Chapter 12 study guide on Thursday and Friday. Students will bring this home on Friday to study for their test on Monday, May 2nd.
Ms. Minor's Math:
Students seemed to do a wonderful job on their TIME test this afternoon. We will begin the chapter on angles and lines on Monday. Students will learn to identify different angles, represent them, and even measure them with a protractor! We are very excited to do this activity next week.
Science: We are finishing up our Solar System study! This has been such a fun unit, we are sad to see it end. Students will take their test on Friday, April 29th.
Social Studies: We will finish our last chapter in our My World curriculum this week! Students will take a short quiz over Than and Now on Thursday this week. Our Social Studies lessons will be a review to help us prepare for ITBS testing in May!
