2019-2020: Pick the opportunity that suits you best
Close reading, critical thinking, and dialogue skills
We're excited to offer an opportunity to begin or expand your work with the Socratic Seminar thinking strategy! Consider which learning option might suit you best. Our goal is to build our collective understanding and support each other in implementing seminars in our classrooms. In all sessions, we will discuss how Socratic Seminar supports state literacy standards, as well as a balanced literacy approach, and we will share ways to use Benchmark Literacy materials as texts for seminars.
Lakeville middle and high schools are working to implement Socratic Seminar in English classes and AVID classes as well, and we are excited to introduce students to this thinking structure at the elementary level. Seminars empower students to read, think, and discuss at a high level through close reading and dynamic dialogue. We hope that you will take advantage of one of these opportunities!
Consider which metaphor most resonates with you:
