Federal Executive Branch
The function of the Executive branch is to enforce laws written by Congress.
The roles/jobs of the President are to act as a Chief Executive and Head of State, appointing the heads of federal agencies.
The major departments that make up the President's Cabinet are the State, War, and Treasury. Defense, Justice, Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security.
Maryland State Executive branch
The function of the Executive branch is to implement and enforce Maryland's laws and provides executive direction to government.
The roles/jobs of the governor are to carry out the business of the state and enforce laws passed by the Legislature.
The major departments that make up the Governor's Executive Council are Aging, Agriculture, Budget and Management, Commerce, Disabilities, Education, Environment, General Services, Health and Mental Hygiene, Housing and Community Development, Human Resources, Information Technology, Juvenile Services, Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Natural Resources, Planning, Public Safety and Correctional Services, State Police, Transportation, and Veterans Affairs.
