Movie Night

On Friday, April 7 at 6pm Home and School will be hosting a movie night. Students in grades four and lower will be watching Sing. Upper grade students will be watching Sandlot. Parents of students in grade three or lower are expected to stay to supervise their children. Admission is free.

Road Construction

Brown County Public Works has informed us that at the beginning of April there will be road construction starting from Bridge St (slightly southwest of the school) to Apple Creek Rd (northeast of the school property). This will affect the school entrance and the parking lot entrance. Our area is scheduled for Stage 1. The schedule is weather-dependent and may change due to weather conditions. The work consists of removing existing pavement and replacing it with 4.5" of new asphalt pavement and driveway ends being replaced.

The road will be closed to through traffic, but access to the school and church will be maintained throughout the construction phase.

Mystic Monk Coffee and Tea Sale

The Monks of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel were founded by Bishop David L. Ricken as a Public Association of the Christian Faithful in the Diocese of Cheyenne on October 15, 2003. Bishop Ricken established the monastery to live the fullness of the Carmelite tradition and way of life as is proper to monks.

In a mountain valley in Wyoming, the Carmelite Monks were looking for a way to support their growing community. After much discernment and prayer, the monks had the inspiration to start roasting coffee and selling the beans online. The first samples were roasted on a cast-iron skillet in the monastery kitchen and in 2007, Mystic Monk Coffee was born.

Since this humble beginning, more and more gourmet coffee drinkers have been enjoying the smooth, delicious taste of Mystic Monk Coffee. Most customers become regulars after the first delightful sip of Mystic Monk Coffee, and today around 85% of orders are from repeat customers. This is no surprise, as the Monks strive for perfection in everything they do and each coffee bean is roasted with love and prayer.

In your Family Folder you will find an order form for Mystic Monk Coffee and Tea. Order forms can also be picked up in our Churches. Orders are due April 28.

JDRF Kids Walk and Fundraising Event

I am excited to share that our school will be hosting a JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes! JDRF is the leading organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. This organization holds a special place in my heart as a mother of a child with T1D. My son, Dennis, was diagnosed at four. He is now a fifteen year old sophomore in high school who has been checking his blood sugar four to five times a day and injecting insulin multiple times a day for eleven years. JDRF gives families like mine hope for a cure.

Our JDRF Kids Walk will take place on Monday, April 10 at 1:30. During the Kids Walk, students will celebrate their hard work, get some great exercise, and honor people living with T1D. I hope you are as excited as I am to support our students in this important effort. You can make donations at http://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR?team_id=231677&fr_id=6548&pg=team.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer at the Kids Walk, please let me know. Thank you for your support, and for choosing St. Clare School for your children.

Win a bike, a GoPro, or an Xbox from JDRF!

Contest rules: All students who send at least 10 fundraising emails through their Participation Center will automatically be entered into a drawing to win either a bike or a GoPro. You get to choose! The drawing for the bike/GoPro will be on Friday, June 30. Each student who meets the qualifications above will receive one entry. You can learn how at http://jdrf3dev.convio.net/site/DocServer/Send_Kids_Walk_Fundraising_Emails_in_Five_Easy_Steps_Fin.pdf?docID=2806.

On June 30, 2017, JDRF will also hold a grand prize drawing for an Xbox One. To qualify you must raise $50 online. All students who meet this criteria will be entered.

A Very Successful Conference

St. Clare Catholic School hosted an early childhood conference at Silver Lake College on March 17. We had 77 registered attendees from Catholic schools, public schools, and daycare programs. Our nine presenters, which included our own Abby Linwood, did a wonderful job of presenting on current early childhood and other education topics. The conference served as a fundraiser for our St. Clare School early childhood program. We raised nearly $5,300.

Do you know a graduating senior who graduated eighth grade from St. Clare School?
