Whitney Families-
As we wrap up this school year, I want to again say thank you to all of you for partnering with us in giving your child the best education possible. I know there have been a lot of struggles but there have also been a lot of celebrations as well. I appreciate the open communication that many of you have had with the school.
As we look ahead to the next school year we are currently placing students with the next grade level teacher. As a reminder we do not take teacher requests, but we do welcome input on your child's strengths, ideal learning environment, etc. so that the current teacher can place them with the perfect fit for next year. You will be notified in August of your child's teacher for the 2021-22 school year.
Summer School - we have a STEAM summer opportunity for all students. The invite was sent home 5/11/21 for cohort A and will be sent home 5/13/21 for cohort B. K-3 students that met certain criteria were given an invitation to the reading summer school held at Adams and Roosevelt. Please make sure to return those invitations by 5/14. STEAM invitations are due by 5/19.
Please join us for our FAMILY HOUR OF CODE event on May 19th from 5:30 to 6:30. Links will be sent out at a later time. We have some amazing prizes to raffle that evening.
All students who earned the skating incentive received a ticket to go to Skateland. Unfortunately at this time we were unable to plan an all school Whitney event, but students are welcome to join up with their Whitney friends on their own.
Please continue to watch our Facebook page (link below) as well as our Whitney web page at ysd7.org/Whitney, for regular updates about what is happening at Whitney.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Newell and Mr. Hunt
Thank You Whitney Teachers!
