We need your help! It’s the time of year when we give thanks, and the teachers and staff at AMMS do an amazing job! Let’s thank them for all their hard work.

We would like to give the teachers and staff a thank you of at least two $10 gift cards. Some popular gift cards they have enjoyed in the past include: Target, Starbucks, Amazon, Macy's, Publix/Kroger, Chick Fil A and other restaurants...GET CREATIVE! Please consider donating one or more $10 gift cards to show the AMMS staff how much we appreciate them!

The front office will collect the gift cards. The collection dates will run 11/4/19 - 12/10/19.

Please sign-up by clicking on the link.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Thanksgiving Break Check-Out Procedures

With Thanksgiving break approaching, to ensure a more efficient way for you to check your child out of school during the day, the following procedure should be followed:

  • In an effort to avoid interrupting instructional time on the intercom, students MUST have a note designating the time that they should meet you in the front office.
  • Notes should be brought to the front office in the morning for authorization. The signed note will allow your child leave class at the designated time and meet you in the front office.
  • Students without notes will not be called out of class until the parent arrives. (For example, we will not call them out of class when you call from your car). For this reason, you may experience delays if your child does not have a note giving prior notification of the early dismissal.
  • Transportation changes must be made prior to 3:00 p.m.
  • No check-outs without a note after 3:30 p.m.

Your cooperation with our check out procedure will help keep classroom interruptions to a minimum and will get you on your way in a timely manner.

October Students of the Month

We are excited to announce our October Students of the Month. These students were nominated by our math teachers for demonstrating the qualities of the "Live to Give" Mindset". These students seek ways to serve others and ask themselves what they can do to provide a greater value to others. They continually seek ways to leverage their talents and abilities to maximize their positive impact on the world.

These students will be recognized with a special celebration during their grade level lunches on November 15th.

Front Office Tidbit!

If students get sick during the school day, they should always go to the clinic to call home and speak to their parent/guardian. Students should not use their cell phones to call home, as they are not allowed to use their cell phones during school hours.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)

As we approach Thanksgiving break, our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) team wants to reach out and ask our school community about how positive behavior is reinforced at home. As we see students making positive choices throughout the school day, we do our best to verbally acknowledge them, letting them know that we appreciate it when their actions align with our school wide expectations.

Next semester, we will build upon this philosophy via a rewards system that continues to acknowledge students who support our PBIS matrix. More information will be coming out in December, but in the meantime, we’d love to hear from our community regarding ideas for rewards for middle school students, how you encourage positive behavior at home, and questions about our PBIS program that we could address in future Lions Roar newsletters.

If you’d like to ask a question or share an idea about PBIS at Autrey Mill Middle School, please click on this link and fill out the open-ended Google Form. Responses and questions received may be featured in upcoming editions of the “The Lion’s Roar.”

Holiday Gift Drive for Interact Club

The Interact Club is sponsoring a toy drive to benefit children in the North Fulton Community. We will be collecting toys in the front rotunda Monday, November 18th through Friday, December 6th. All students who donate a new unwrapped toy will receive a small treat and be entered in our daily drawing for a $5 gift card, donated to us by the North Fulton Johns Creek Rotary. Students who donate a toy will also be entered into the drawing at the end of the toy drive for the grand prize, which will be free seating at lunch for 2 days.

There will be 2 winners from each grade level for the free seating prize. All toys donated will be given to North Fulton Community Charities to benefit children in our local community this holiday season.

AMMS is happy to offer our Future Health Professionals student organization again this year. AMMS HOSA students competed and placed at the International Leadership Conference in both 2018 and 2019! HOSA students have served our school by filling and distributing our red safety bags to each classroom, completing STOP THE BLEED training, as well as hosting several doctors as guest speakers. Our award winning HOSA students have been featured in the AJC newspaper and will be in an upcoming edition of My Alpharetta Magazine!

AMMS would like to invite any students with a desire to learn more about a future in health careers or emergency medicine to join HOSA. Students are welcome to participate in the club regardless of their desire to take their skills to the competitive level. Student may join google classroom for more details.
