RRMS Royal Update
Knight News for 11/14-11/18
11/7-11/18 Student Success Data Chats
The Student Success Team (Administration, School Counselors, and Graduation Enhancement Teacher) will take the opportunity to meet with all students individually as part of our Student Success Data Chats. We will mail home the Quarter 1 Report card with notes from the student-led data chat regarding Quarter 1 Report Card grades, current Quarter 2 grades, and potential Semester 1 grades. Together, we not only will review their academic but also their social-behavior progress in order to develop goals and strategies for success as we reach the mid-point of the semester.
Students have the following opportunities to get academic and social-behavior assistance at RRMS:
- Academic Tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school from 1:30PM-2:30PM in the Media Center
- Academic Lunch in the Media Center
- Schedule time with the Teachers, School Counselors, Social Worker, and Administrators
- Take advantage of Second Chance Learning Opportunities with teachers
As a reminder, the state mandate (F.S.1003.4156) requires that middle school students complete a Language Arts, Math, Science, & Social Studies course each year with a minimum grade of “D” for the semester to be promoted to high school.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education.
PARENT BILLS OF RIGHTS - CONSENT FORMS in MYSTUDENT - Please complete ASAP!
PARENTS - We want to highly encourage you to READ CAREFULLY all of the items in the Parent Bill of Rights Consent. During conversations, we are realizing a number of parents were not fully aware of what they were signing when they did so.
While parents have full rights to opt out/in of all items - and we realize how many words they have used - it is important to make informed decisions.
One example is the MEDIA RELEASE. Several parents opted out without realizing the last line of a lengthy page listed the fact that any student opting out will not be recognized if they play sports, or achieve any academic success, and will not be in the yearbook, among other restrictions. Again - if this opt out was done fully informed we absolutely respect that, but when the full details have been pointed out parents did reconsider.
Leaving the consent form blank is a NO for CLINIC SERVICES. If you would like your student to utilize the clinic if they are sick, or get hurt please consent to yes to illness care treatment and RN assessment. If you mark NO or DON'T FILL OUT THE FORMS your child can't be seen in the clinic. Your child will be asked to call you to inform you of the situation. If you do not have internet access at home or a computer, you may come to the school to fill out the consent forms online.
If you have questions about ANY item please do not hesitate to reach out to our administration so that we can clarify the options as much as possible as it is new procedure for everyone.
Please check myStudent regularly for student progress!
1. Academic Lunch in the Media Center or with teacher (daily)
2. Knight Time Intervention Period (daily)
3. Second Chance Learning Opportunities (work out with teacher as needed)
4. After School Tutoring with HS NHS students (Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays 1:30PM-2:30PM Media Center)

Message from the RRMS PTSA - Call for donations!
We are organizing a project to let teachers and staff know how thankful we are for all they do! We would like to send every staff member home with an easy spaghetti dinner as they leave for Thanksgiving break. We are collecting 150 boxes of pasta, 150 jars of spaghetti sauce, and 150 packets of dessert mix (cookies, brownies, cakes, etc.). We would like to have these turned in by November 16th, so we can have it all ready to go that Friday. If you are able to help, please see the sign up below. Please indicate how many of each item you will be donating.
